The Witch.

What's the movie btw user?

Horror movies are supposed to be scary, not a periodo drama like the witch

lake mungo

Room 1408 had one of the most intense build-ups for me ever. Kinda lost all the potential it gained. Check it out, good movie none the less.

The Exorcist or

the witch is the most boring shit i've ever seen

That's Noroi. Scared me so bad a couple of years back, watched it with a friend online, we both had our webcams on and at the same time both of our lightbulbs dropped dead. He was in the US, I in Europe... Still freaks me out, great movie.

'Horror' movies that aren't scary but Sup Forums pretends they are-core:
The witch
The thing
Lake mungo
Noroi
The exorcist
Rosemary s baby

If you don't consider these movies the scariest shit ever you will be called underage by the 'real' horror gatekeeping brigade

Don't plan on doing much after watching this.

>watching horror movies after Halloween

I already have seen these to and yeah noroi was overhyped

I don;t find any of those scary but the witch, Rosemarys baby and the thing are all great films. I have no idea why people say noroi is scary though. Me and my brother watched it years ago because of this shithole and besides the first 30 mins or so which looked interesting and eerie, it turned into a laughable cgi shitfest. We couldn't believe how shit it turned out after having so much potential in the beginning, it was actually hilarious. Most people by far have shit taste when it comes to any kind of horror.

This. It was very unsettling in an eerie and psychological way

I think The Babadook is one of the best executed horror movies ever made.

Itt people that watched horror movies in daylight and with company

A shitty film is still a shitty film at night

Another question. Was there ever a good found footage/handheld camera movie?

So its true, you watched these horror movies in daylight and with constant pauses to shitpost and now you come here saying they werent scary
Horror movies depend on the mood and you kill it

Noroi is good minus the cgi in op scene

Don't forget headphones on a computer monitor

If a horror movie can't set the mood for itself than it's not a good one in my book

t. RLM drone

Horror movies that are actually scary if you are adult:

Horror movies that are great despite aforementioned fact of life:
>your list

I havd to say that I actually really didn't enjoy the Exorcist. This was despite watching it alone at night in a dark room. It really did nothing for me.

Maybe it's just one of those movies you had to experience back when movies like this was considered impressive

You and your book are stupid, horror movies all rely in you watching them at dark and alone, cause thats the whole point, you cant watch a horror movie with the lads with each of them trying to make a pun, dramas and war movies either.
Also when your are an adult you are not scared of the supernatural so you have to help the movie by being alone and at night.

My condolences

You were too grown up

faggot

Wr should get rid of the age rating, the whole point of horror movies are to scare and you get scared when you are a kid or a teen

>I'm so mature I don't get scared
Cringe

>blair witch
>grave encounters
>cloverfield

>I get scared by movies
LOL!

seen them all, grave encounters wasn't that bad. what's the sequel like?

When I was a kid/teen I was to scared to watch horror movies so now that Im old and I decided to watch them in daylight they didnt scare me.
Im a tough guy haha

Only found footage movie that really scared me was REC. Too bad the sequels after 2 were shit.

Yes I do, most non autistic adults do too.

I have to go with Inland Empire.
That it hasn't been posted here so far says a lot about the state of this board.

>being on Sup Forums and not being autistic
Choose one

Little more over the top but definitely watchable. Meta is maybe the word I'm looking for? The main character watches the original movie and is convinced it's real since none of the actors are in anything else and they call the movie company and shit. Him and friends decide to check out the asylum. It's pretty decent if you like the first with a tongue in cheek ending.

Noroi was real nice. The slow build up was comfy.

There's a lot of good Japanese Horror in the early 2000's. Then everyone overdid it with the long haired girl contortionist. Every horror movie with a ghost in it now has that Sadako shambling movement.

This one too. Plus the ending made it even creepier.

The other guy was right, don't be a dick.

Hey, people need some sort of escape. Being able to immerse yourself watching a horror movie is nice sometimes. Rather be scared of that than the freaking monthly mortgage or rent. Don't be a buzzkill you middle aged edgelord.

The last time I was spooked out was the last half hour of pic related. The buildup to it is what really did the trick for me. I don't really get scared by horror anymore after watching a few hundred flicks, but it's still one of my favorite genres.

>replying to shitposters

Caught the last half hour of The Shining with a friend when I was 10, being shared shitless was most likely where my love of horror came from. I would have to say Texas Chainsaw Massacre though in terms of raw spookiness.

Synecdoche New York

I haven't rewatched it since my first viewing, but I found John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns to be very spooky

jesus christ

unironically, blair witch
when you can't see the monster, it makes it that much scarier. just like that m.night film that refused to show the alien.

lol

>watching horror movies exclusively for halloween

This is wrong

Don't even bother bringing it up here. I agree with you, but the It Follow's children will throw a fit.

Also, notice how the children thought Lake Mungo was good. These threads are just good for a laugh.

...

i liked it the first time i saw it

it was fucking awful when i tried to watch it the second time

anyone remember this one?

yea, im triggered. please god just go back to Sup Forums, /lgbt/, Sup Forums or wherever you came from. halloween’s over, we don’t need you faggots shitting the place up anymore with meme horror recs.

The Blair Witch Project when I was 9. Kinda fucked me up extra good since I lived in the middle of the forrest at the time.

Earthlings.

Lake Mungo
The Witch
The Descent
Curse of the Blair Witch + The Blair Witch Project
The Last Broadcast (minus the ending)
The Exorcist
Nosferatu (1922)
Last Shift (minus the ending)
Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles
TheWingedBeatle

also Pontypool

chronicle?

Good build up awful ending

Eden Lake
I loved it but will never watch it again. Fuck those kids and their parents, 'realistic' psycho shavs/hillbillies kids scare me so much.

Probably Sauna. It's been a long time since I saw it, but the dreadful atmosphere of it scared the fuck out of me.

Jaws.

to this day my sister says, that movie is the most boring piece of shit she has watch and im kinda agree

fucking this, first time i watch it was fine, the second time i tried to watch it with my gf i could'n finish it

Hot.

i saw one in some catacombs or tunnels in london, was ok

Name some scary movies then faggot.

I'm surprised this is so popular on horror threads. It maybe works best for someone who is not from finland, so the exotic atmosphere really works.

When it came out people criticized it harshly for being too artsy and borrowing from japanese horror. I think its fine for horror film, but the name "sauna" is mildly annoying. Its like italian horror film was named "spaghetti" or french horror named "baguette"

>Its like italian horror film was named "spaghetti" or french horror named "baguette"
Would watch both of these.

Blair Witch Project

Spaghetti would be art and baguette would suck.

This is not a horrorfilm yet it's more scary than any horrorfilms I've seen.

28 Days Later has an incredibly bleak and hopeless atmosphere

I loved The Blair Witch Project when I was younger. Now I recommend watching it as a double feature with Curse of the Blair Witch. The Last Broadcast is great except for the ending. As Above So Below was pretty good except for jump scares and general bad found footage acting. Reminds me of Silent Hill.

Severely underrated

>mentalcrash
lol kill yourself vape smoking faggot

I don't smoke tho

I 100% agree, tripfag, it's a fucking fantastic movie
