Revs don't shoot up to the redline if you shift into a higher gear during acceleration
And if you shift down in to a lower gear to accelerate and the engine revs are just under the limiter, the car wouldn't go any faster either. You'd just hit the rev limiter.
Well then it's not a racing film but an american movie.
