Marvel (and Waid) killed the Avengers brand
All the draws from New Avengers got removed and only the Janetties remained
I think part of the problem is that the pace has been pretty slow so far.

There's also the obvious factor of this line up lacking any high profile characters at all. It has stand-ins for the mainstays, but these aren't even the ones actually promoted by Marvel, who aren't even doing well in the first place.

Legit though I can't remember what event it was but either late 2015 or early 2016 one of the events at the time had a crazy amount of variants and some of them are being bought on E-bay for $40 which might seem small but hey if you bought 10 of them for around 4-5 each then that's a pretty good margin even if you only sell half.
If it's anything like Champions then they basically hold variants of books that actually sell hostage. You had to order so much Champions to get Star Wars and Spidey variants.
