Who is the best living director?

Who is the best living director?

You should replace Scrosese with Zack Snyder

Heh, I bet you think you shouldn't just replace all of them with Zack Snyder because his work makes all other directors' contributions irrelevant. Kill yourself, you Marvel-loving redditor.

Denis Villeneuve has not made a bad movie. The other ones have.

Granted he's still a young director so he has time to fuck it up.

>tfw you realise Denis is 50

none of those, but among those guys Tarantula is the best craftsman.

...

toss up between villanova and fincher

of those the answer is clearly Scorsese, but Godard is still alive.

Missing Wes Anderson

1.Michael mann
2.James cameron
3.Ridley scott

Cuaron

...

I love Godard but he has made too many shitty movies, I don't know why he feels the need to make a movie per year even if they aren't good

this picture makes me sad, mad, amused and disappointed all at once

...

Tarr, Baker, Trecartin, Noe, Korine, or Faveru imo.

Oh and Solondz and Haynes.

>blocks your path

>socks
meh

>all these white men
and Sup Forums can't even use the "jewish" excuse. not of them are jewish lmao

...

Francis Ford Coppola.

Must suck that he and Scorsese are still alive because no other director has a claim to being the best yet.

Dan Schneider

Carpenter is the hero we need but don't deserve

They're all genuinely more talented than any female or nigger directors. The only exception are Asians

>alt-f4 Malick

for shame, Sup Forums
for shame

>Edgar Wright above Fritz Lang

I really wish I was that cat

He's the default for trying to get footkino into the mainstream

Tarantino puts out footflicks. His foot imagery is seen as a joke. Schneider's foot imagery is seen as art.

>no Maya Deren

>Francis Ford Coppola
but he hasnt made a decent movie since Dracula 25 years ago

*makes you lmao*

Weren't his last couple of movies kind of terrible?

I loved Knight of Cups but was lukewarm on Song to Song. So 50/50

And?

If he keeps making movies but theyre bad now he cant really be called the best living director just because of movies he made in the 70's

Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Jia Zhangke, or Asghar Farhadi

Scorsese

Paul Thomas Anderson is the best there is today. Has never made a bad film.

More like Kinofellas

>Scorsese
>Fincher
>Cameron
>Villeneuve
>Nolan
>Tarantino

Honestly it's absurd to rank them though since they really have nothing in common. Cameron makes a blockbuster every 10 years, Tarantino makes crime films and homages to every film ever, Nolan puts the "art house" in "frat house", Fincher makes tight thrillers, Scorsese is already one of the all-time greats, and Villeneuve is too early in his career to compare to the others.
