Last I heard Japan was Asia. Even so 2049 opened with the fight sequence where K gets thrown through a wall, had plenty of heavy action sequences laden through the film, you'd think that would satiate their bloodlust. Thing is, the Chinese want a 15-30 minute CGI action opener, followed by 15 minutes tops of character introduction, followed by 15 minutes of driving to the 30-45 minutes of yet more CGI fight sequences. This is the basic formula for pretty much every transformer/action hero shitflick made over the past 20 years. Christ I cringed just watching the trailer to that thor vs hulk garbage. Surprised honestly that big budget kung fu films aren't being mass produced desu, seems to be what they would want.
