The beginning buildup has you thinking its gonna be a good movie but then it doesn't ever do anything with it and the end will have you laughing wondering why the fuck it just ended like that.

It's great, one of the best horror movies to come out in recent memory. Very good creepy atmosphere, would definitely recommend watching it.

Great moody German expressionist style, the lighting is fantastic and the design for the babadook is genuinely unsettling and used brilliantly (little things like a hanging coat and hat in the corner of the frame become very frightening even when the characters pay no attention to it). That said, the third act is retarded and the kid is such a little shit that you're actually rooting for the mother at one point to stab him in the face. Not that he's a bad actor, just that he plays autism a little TOO successfully

the characters are insanely complex for an anime, even if its a lil bit edgy. I went into it thinking it was going to be about mechs fighting stuff, going through dbz style powerups every fight but boy was i wrong
