So, how does it compare to Ed Wood? imdb has it rated slightly higher currently but, that doesn't mean shit since TDA is a fresh theatrical movie right now.

Disappointing. All the saucy stuff was very obviously neutered to get Tommy's approval.

>So, how does it compare to Ed Wood?

Ed Wood
>genuinely charismatic protagonist
>wacky entertaining side characters
>acknowledgment of the harsh reality behind the real life story
>great cinematography and set design

Disaster Artist
>protagonist is an unlikable wierdo
>side characters are all forgettable
>completely removes any darkness found in the source material
>bad sloppy shaky-cam filmmaking

in other words whereas, Ed Wood was a loving/sympathetic take on it's namesake, The Disaster Artist comes across like normies picking on the weird kid?

Oh I thought they actually had Tommy Wiseau playing himself. This sounds a lot less interesting now that I know that's not true.

TDA is the anti-Ed Wood in a lot of ways
Remember Ed Wood died penniless and forgotten. Tommy may have failed as a film-maker but he is loved worldwide and in the end that's the greatest victory he could have wanted

>The Disaster Artist comes across like normies picking on the weird kid?

Even worse, it hides it behind this "He's just a creative spirit who follows his dreams!" shit. It's like normies inviting the wierd kid to a party and secretly laughing at everything he does behind his back.

>Finally see The Disaster Artist.
>Enjoy it.
>Go on Sup Forums to talk about it.
>Sup Forums doesn't like it.

Everything with Seth Rogen is literally soyfun for nu-boys.

>but he is loved worldwide and in the end that's the greatest victory he could have wanted

He is "loved" worldwide and you can tell from screening appearances that he absolutely hates that his audience treats him as a joke, but he's so starved for attention that he'll take it.

Well RLM didn't like it and it's hard to have independent thoughts

Well then he shouldn't have made such a bad movie

It's the hipster Ed Wood with a bunch of asswipes making fun of a rich retard who's unlikable!!!FACT!!!

I thought what made the book so good to read was the dipping in and out of the two time lines of movie production and their friendship leading up to it.

Just doing the story straight kinda made it boring. The best scene was the post credit scene desu. Wasnt expecting much from the film going in, but still glad I saw it.

That's disappointing.

I know this gets used here a lot but this is literal self projection

It was a fun movie that is aware of the surreal eccentricity of Wiseau but doesn’t feel mean spirited at all.

It wasn’t the funniest movie of all time but I was smiling the whole way through. Most fun flick since Baby Driver

The issue with The Disaster Artist is that it’s really a movie for fans of The Room

One thing that bothered me was how everyone came off as cruel to Tommy for his bad acting, when in real life people tried to give him real acting advice and he ignored it because he was so full of himself.

>The best scene was the post credit scene desu.
fuck fuck fuck man why do i always go to see movies with people who leave during the credits. i love staying to the very end when i'm by myself

This, I loved it, but does feel like you should read the book or at least seen the room before you watch it.

My new favorite gay couple in films.
