Oingo Boingo>John Williams>Danny Elfman

Han Zimmer

Joe Hisaishi is the only composer I enjoy listening to solo
youtube.com/watch?v=bq94uedl3xY

This is a Zimmer free thread. Your water fountain is the other way.

I don't really know Elfman's scores that well, but I've been listening to and fucking loving some Oingo Boingo lately. Private Life is probably my favorite song right now.

...

Williams you fuckin moron.

>Elfman

No thanks. John Williams is 2nd only to Oingo Boingo in my book.

Well Elfman is technically worse I guess. But if you're looking for the shittiest its by far Michael Nyman or Philip Glass.

Batman 1989
Simpsons theme

They're about equal. Elfman has more variety and his late 80s to early 2000s score were incredible. Batman music is agruably better than Superman.

I knew the Simpsons theme, at least.

>Philip Glass
take that back

Ennio, obviously

The man can score a climax like no other

...

Tchaikovsky

John Williams for the simple fact that he's taken for granted. We're going to miss the shit out of that nigger when he dies.

Williams is far more recognizable

Williams is a hack, he basically took the Whole of The Planets of Gustav Holst to make the Star Wars track

Looking back, Williams' compelling score is what makes the original trilogy so lovable, it just perfectly encapsulates every scene. Superman is also great, whenever I think of Superman I think of that score, it just sounds triumphant and optimistic like Superman should. Morricone is a close second, he doesn't have as much range as Williams IMO, but his work on the Dollars trilogy is legendary. Star Wars, Jaws, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly are icons of scoring at this point.

Ennio Morricone

John Williams

That being said, he is a blatant plagiarist

Don't forget Indiana Jones, ET, Jurassic Park and Schindler's List.

I like Ennio Morricone, but he's more of a hitmaker than a brilliant film composer. Everyone knows his standouts, but he's never composed a consistently brilliant score like Williams, Elfman or (I hate to say) Zimmer.

Giacchino, you fucking faggots

So? Elfman is underappreciated.

You must be retarded. Williams always does the same Spielberg type movies. Morricone scored westerns, war films, gangster films, comedies, horror films and all sorts of weird shit.
>Morricone hitmaker
What the fuck is that even mean? All Morricone best stuff is barely known.

Michael Giacchino

>Ctrl+F
>No Howard Shore

Fucking plebs, like always

Williams
Elfman is not bad but he is far less recognizable.

JERRY GOLDSMITH. HOLY FUCK I'M SURROUNDED BY PLEBS

One hit wonder.

Between those two, you're an idiot if you go with Elfman. He has like two scores that he recycled throughout his career.

You go with Williams if you're plebbit sheep.

Jerry Goldsmith > both of them
The score in Star Trek: The Motion Picture alone is better than anything either of these guys ever did

Bernstein, Prokofiev, Korngold and Herrmann are the best.

>10/10 good looks
>literally won an oscar on his first film composition
>keeps winning awards
>intimidates other film composers by his sheer talent
>an actual rock star
>hot banging wife and beautiful kids
>doesn't need an entire orchestra to write scores
>literally only needs a synthesizer and a keyboard

Any other response besides Trent Reznor in this thread is a terrible lie.

You do realize all film composers literally steal from each other all the time right? I forgot the exact term.

>the chad composer

You go with Williams because he produced a half dozen iconic scores. Whereas Elfman has basically produced one that's he's recycled over and over again.

And Herrmann pretty much stole all his shit from Wagner.

What you mean is you only heard one Elfman score.

He is the greatest

michael nyman? is this bait?

jeremey sole or bear mcreary?

Considering his recent "work" he's pretty much dead already.

Zimmer nigger. He suck. His music is just simple, repetative sounds or a remake of someone else's work. And he never comes up with anything with a good melody.

I wish...I've seen a ton of movies he's scored as I grew up in the 90s.

I guess, I'll give him Nightmare Before Christmas. Music in that is good.

Everything else is just the same Klezmer derived stuff.

Kek, good one.

He doesn't suck, but he does get hired for movies way too much.

This, unironically the best alive.
