I really want padparadscha to be assistant to a news reporter and the news reporter won't fire her because she's too cute.

Here's an idea, what if, now, just bear with me here, Padparadscha was actually developed beyond the fact that she's not normal? And for that matter, the rest of her friends? How is she possibly going to redeem herself?

Steven Universe will have a series finale, followed by an entire season following Padparadscha as she experiences that previous final season post end of the series.

So, does her power imply she can tell about events that have occurred without necessarily needing to witness them, or is she just captain obvious with no special vision?

>every rerun is actually paddy's POV of the show

The first. She has a delayed farsight power that is delayed enough to make it near useless.

What would happen if she fused with Sapphire?

This will happen. Her (dis-)ability is too specific to not lead to a flashback or past vision of some kind. For which she needs some sort of breakthrough first.

Probably an adorable and bit more powerful farsight user?

Talking about a past and future secret
Most called him once and future king

She'll get hold of the Mirror and be able to recall any even that has ever occurred regardless of if she was there to witness it.

>past vision of some kind.
Like the assassination of a certain diamond?

...

Just like that.

>With our powers combined, I see...normal time, just normally, that's it, this is a downgrade.

I kinda wish we'll se a Sapphire+Padparadscha(+Ruby?) fusion which can see in the past and in the future at the same time.

She sees in normal time but she sees everything.

So she's Blind Vaysha?

Huh, that would actually work for her. Hell, if it's not limited to whats close to her she can give news faster than any actual news source out there.

Or anything but the present where she constantly mumbels of all kinds of events.
Of that which was and what shall be, like a true orcale

But she sees all, planet wide sight.

Ha, this.

>any character being taken seriously beyond Steve, Amethyst, Garnet, and Pearl
>current year
Dream on, sweet summer child. Dream on.

Sapphire gets incredibly depressed by her powers

This would be a godsend for them both

Hot.

She'd be temporally adrift unable to tell past from present from future.

she can tell the present

>Garnet having a character in episodes past the fusion reveal

Unfortunately, no. I miss old Garnet, she used to be this cool character, but now they just stress her being a combination of Ruby and Sapphire's characters.

The prediction powers of the two would clash, and cause some kind of "divide by zero" shit to their minds. The fusion would then just fall to the floor, convulsing and foaming at the mouth.

I suspect it'll stay a gimmick until they need her to drop some backstory we can't actually get normally because this show is shackled to Steven's POV.

More likely she'll just find out how to be useful doing what she can currently do.

Prophecies are useful as long as they tell you something you don't know, and there's a lot of things that just happened without our knowledge.

Lars.

Deepest lore

The writers just show their incompetence more and more as the series goes on. The fact that Padparapancakes or whatever is deemed useless and abandoned is aclear demonstration of a lack of creativity. Sapphires can see the future, but it's demonstrated time and time again that their visions are based on possible futures and only give a vague ability to direct actions to a better conclusion. A gem that can see the past however, is someone who can with 100% certainty declare the happenings of an event. This skill would be invaluable to someone who needed to investigate something, which happens to be a key plot point in the series, so you can't even argue that Homeworld doesn't require a gem with her skills. The writers are hacks and don't care about the credibility of their setting, instead putting their time and energy into character concepts they find "cute" and or progressive for their own sake.

That's not how her power works.

Not that user, but then how does it work?

It just works.

Poorly.

Yes it is. The only thing we don't know is the parameters on the range of her ability (both in time and distance). Even if her power is practically useless, the fact that no one was interested in refining her power or even just discovering if it could be replicated does a disservice to whole advanced alien civilisation theme they want Homeworld to be. Especially one going through resource scarcity.

Padparadscha's power works like the normal future vision but she can only see the recent past.

We know he power's range in time. It's not very big, as it can only see recent past.

Although not ideal, it still has many practical purposes. Making her a one of a kind rare tool for the diamonds rather than a cast off.

We'll see if that even lasts. For like said, she's probably going to be a backstory tool for the writers, since it fits well with the whole "cast offs are better than everyone" theme of SU.

What if Paddy is the only non-diamond gem who knows (or could know) the truth about Pink Diamond, so they wanted to get rid of her?

What does the scouter say about her power level?

It's CUTE!!!

Saves the point of the character, but I doubt the writers put that much thought into her other than

Yeah, no. That goes against what Sugar stated about how Sapphires see the future.
Our Sapphire saw exactly 1 clear future because she was passive towards it. When she is fused with Ruby, they see any number of possible futures based on their own actions as Garnet making a difference. This is less accurate and a bit messy, but allows Sapphire to be an active participant in the future by bringing it about herself as opposed to a passive observer.
On the other hand we have absolutely no information on how Paddy's powers work, precisely.
We know she always is a bit behind the present, but we have no idea if she could see any further back if she tried, nor how accurate that is.
Assuming she works like any other Sapphire but backwards, she needs to interpret the present situation and find what is most likely to have led to the present situation.
But even if she could reasonably accurate see into the past, they are all immortals. They just remember the past. The Diamonds don't need someone like her. And I doubt they would bother finding out about her after finding out she does not work as intended. Which is the sole standard by which HW Gems are measured.

We do not, actually. We know what she usually looks at in a desperate attempt to keep up with the present. We do not know if she can accurately see behind herself in time any length of time. Or maybe she could but never tried, or she can when fused or something else. Do not mistake your assumptions for objective fact.

More like Janus

I'm just saying, that's what Flourite said about Padparadscha..

I did assume Sapphire's powers worked like Garnet's, but

>But even if she could reasonably accurate see into the past, they are all immortals. They just remember the past. The Diamonds don't need someone like her.

Yet they have whole trials with lawyers giving their versions of events past? Pardparadscha makes the whole system obsolete is she were able to see events in the distant past with absolute clarity instead of conjecture.

>And I doubt they would bother finding out about her after finding out she does not work as intended. Which is the sole standard by which HW Gems are measured.
How does a race of beings reach a galactic level of civilization if they can't accept change and evolution? It's even clearly shown that modern created gems don't fulfill the same fuctions as their older "models" due to the lack of resources to create gems with all the abilities they should have, like Peridot and her metal powers. That means someone is developing new gems to fit new needs, the fact that the one that is created by accident goes against everything else we see in the setting so far.

In a sentence, yes. That does not amount to knowing precisely how it works, how precise it is, how far she goes etc.
Paddy's character is at first glance defined by what she cannot do. As much as all the Off Colors are defined by their flaws and shunned for them.
This calls for Steven or possibly Lars finding out what they can do and redefining them that way.

>the fact that the one that is created by accident is just discarded goes against...

Forgot some words.

You clearly have no idea how Homeworld functions.
They are a system that demands absolute compliance and conformity.
Deformities and deviant behavior are seen as dangerous and even offensive.
How did they build an empire? Ask the Nazis.
In any case it is established that they don't tolerate dysfunctional or illegally fusing Gems. The Famethyst are barely tolerated with their partially sub-standard shapes.
Also Gems are not genetically made. They are produced through technology to be as they are. There is no mutation, no genetic drift. Just production errors.

>Also Gems are not genetically made.

They are still made, with variations between when, where, and how they were made. Sometimes these variations are intentional, as shown by Peridot's line of weaker Peridots. So why would a gem who demonstrates a whole new line of abilities be discarded instead of studied? Homeworld already has demonstrated themselves in keeping around gems with deviations, so why throw away Paraparadscha?

>Ask the Nazis
O boy Godwins Law here we go.

Even Nazis took in Jews and colored people in the army user. Maybe you don't know what you're talking about? Besides, if Homeworld was so strict with form over function, they'd never have progressed past whatever base forms the first race of gems took.

What if she was studied and then discarded, since her power was indeed deemed useless?

Then there'd be a series of ideal Padparadschas running around. Until then she's the only one to study and or perform her function. Beings who have no need for maintenance should have no qualms about storing potential useful personnel.

>Then there'd be a series of ideal Padparadschas running around
Sapphires?

Padparadscha sapphires.

maybe someone didn't want her around
like someone not wanting to know about pink's
