It's too meta for critics and casual movie goers to comprehend.

It was ahead of its time. Only now people are beginning to understand the ironic humour, and some of the jokes (such as the canine american one) have only become funny recently
It was literally ahead of its time. You could swap the Cat for Trump and people wouldn't notice the difference.
...
Ahead of time mind
Well I haven't sees this flick but it looks like shit. Also this cat looks like a mix between Newman from Seinfeld and Donald Trump.

I rewatched The Cat and The Hat recently, and I must say, it was one of the most enjoyable family friendly epic I have seen in a long time. The characters were all fleshed out, and world was built in a way that felt believable as both something relatable but still fantasy. The titular character, Cat and the Hat was truly very fleshed out as a goofball with a heart of goal, the way his own characterization and flaws reflected to the children made it absolutely facinating to watch as the children had to reverse their roles and grow up into adults, as the cat and the hat became the child, causing trouble. Giving the children a new perspective in life and seeing how hard their mom works for them. During the final scene when they are in the Netherworld, fighting Satan. The final confrontation had me in tears, I stood up, off my couch and just clapped. Clapped in silence as knew the movie was soon to be over. It was truely the Cats Pyjamas.
fk cat in the hat is based
unironically suggesting you toke up for this one it really compliments the movie
It's a two layer comedy. First you laugh at "what the fuck were the directors thinking", then you laugh at the surprisingly good writing and delivery.
I loved this movie when I was a kid, I would literally stop everything I was doing to watch it when it started to air on afternoons in open TV channels.
>"Kid, you can tap it with a hammer, it ain't gonna' change."
Fucking degenerate.
because it was supposed to be for kids but its full of weird offputting adult shit
>ill get you and it'll look like a bloody accident
What were they thinking?
>Cat in the Hat was truly delirious—a comedy as visually adventurous as a German Expressionist silent. And Myers’ mischievous, whiskered Cat was scary-subversive: While freshening the tale’s underlying moral, he gave claws to Dr. Seuss, which is probably why critics attacked it.
Has he ever been wrong??

Can someone stream it plz?
I saw this in theaters.
I wanted to see Haunted Mansion but we went to this instead.
I don't even remember the movie.
I remember that at a mall I went to they had a Haunted Mansion movie advertisement exhibit, even had the vidya game too. Pretty neat
I remember seeing it when I was 10 and coming out traumatized because of the uncanny valley effect.
>it's a cat in the hat-thread
>nostalgiaboner urges me to rewatch
fuck it, here we go..
The bad reviews really came as a shock to me
i watched a bit of this when it was on TV recently and laughed just as much as a kid to the food machine scene
