Is there some kind of derivative that slasher movies has not touched upon?

How about a slasher in space?
Leprechaun In Space
You can never escape the Irish.
"Desert-adventure" movies. They peaked around 2005 and never really came back
>Mummy, Returns,Sahara etc etc
Slasher movie set in futuristic Fascist Italy oh wait it almost happened
Space operas
Generic space authoritarians vs space democrats
You mean Alien?
Leprechaun and Jason X. Hellraiser 5 could count too, I think that was the one in space.
Imagine being this much of a pleb
none of those are slashers
are there any comfy black and white movies anymore? The Artist was just Oscar bait. I guess Nebraska was pretty good
It's best just to pretend Alien series does not exist as they somehow just keep getting shittier with every entry.
How the fuck is Jason X not a slasher?
Modern slashers lack the FUN of the older movies
Jason X
Modern slasher movies take themselves way too seriously
Does it count as a slasher?
holy FUCK posters used to be so much better
Even trailers used to be good
youtube.com
now it's just BZZZTT WUB WUB COMING FROM INSERT STUDIO etc
I'd like to see slasher cinematic universe. Freddy vs. Jason vs. Pinhead vs. Everybody else. It would have worked much better than, say Unicersal's monsters universe, because the planet is not big enough for them.
On the theme, disaster movies are dead because sometime ago Hollywood started to shoot them as blockbusters and not character studies (basicaly war movies with nature as enemy).
what if Freddy got super powerful and humans actually had to team up with Jason to kill him?
>posters now
>MC walks into the camera
>MC walks out of the camera
>MC looks somewhere aside of the frame, mouth half open
>blue
>orange
>teal
My brother had this poster on his wall when I was a kid and I'd sneak into his room when he wasn't home to masturbate to it almost daily.
I heard there were rumors about the planned ending for FvsJ was the Pinhead meeting them in hell, but the rights issues put an end to that. And now, after Cabin in the woods and TV Evil dead, the train had already left for that kind of thing.
You mean "compilation of actor's faces that are clearly just stills taken from the movie" doesn't appeal to you? With all the money spent on films why does a decent piece of comissioned artwork seem out of their price range? Who thinks it's a better idea to advertise a multi-million dollar piece of work with a slapdash bit of photoshop
...
Slasher romcom?
Slasher musical?
Find a flaw in this poster
>Jason Alexander
>Holly Hunter
>Tom Savini
Why was this movie so based?
The poster was great
either that or its shit like WHOA DUDE BRO PARTY HELLA EPIC MASSACRE SO EFFIN KUHRAYZEE AND 80S
...
Stage Fright is a slasher musical
Can't think of a romcom slasher off the top of my head though.
There are good ones still they are just very few and far between
Rather confusing that there are two slasher movies with the same name
This movie has too many fucking names Aquarius,Delirium,Bloody Bird and Stage Fright
Slasher have been dead since their inception.
Fucking sucks
Food for pleb
And of the 2 that one is far superior to the 2014 musical
and StageFright: Aquarius
Haven't seen Stage Fright but now I will. I love Cemetery Man.
But it's a proper musical? Like reality is suspended at certain moments and the characters break out into song?
...
Alternate title
jesus fucking christ
Sleep away camp touches on such relevant themes of today
because weinstein
One of his first I think
I remember back in the day when visiting the cinema it always packed with tons of posters all over the place nowadays there's barely any posters at all
Something akin to this
Son of a
Been done 30 years ago, it was called Alien
god I hate everything you represent.
a stylish, well acted and deeply technical horror film without a hint of irony.
Think John Wick, but horror instead of action.
Movies where the central theme is drug use and/or addiction.
It's getting old
I thought The Witch did that pretty well
t. retard
Underwater horror?
also I have no idea why this one is rated so low
I saw this movie when I was like 10. Changed my life
Space horror began and ended with Alien, no one seems to want to do more space horror. The only others I can think of are Event Horizon, which is fun and creative but not particularly scary, and Sunshine, which I just honestly think is shit. I think there was a found footage one on the moon with moon spiders but it was awful.
Can anyone name any other space horror movies? Movies set in space and about horrors encountered there, where part of the threat is because you're in outer space, extraterrestrial threats, existential and psychological themes.
The "Female cyborg kicking ass in rainy dystopian city" sub-genre of cyberpunk.
In particular Ghost in the Shell franchise has been strip mined. But in general all the similar stuff are done, including Underworld, Resident Evil, Matrix, Wanted, Painkiller Jane, Ultraviolet, and some smaller DTV stuff.
>ITT Genres that have basically reached their endpoint.
Between political correctness and the rise of internet porn I'd say sex comedies as a genre are pretty much dead in the water
It is impossible not to read this in Max Landis voice
no loss there. current shit would just be white women with black men while ooga booga music plays. not a bunch of nerdy faggots trying to get laid to the soothing sounds of pop punk.
>Space horror began and ended with Alien
I don't think it has begun until Jason in Space.
I think when we are talking about Space Horror we are talking the in space episode of a horror series
It's a pile of shit but hey it's got Klaus Kinski and they cut about 20 minutes of the entire movies back story about two rival corporations.
I love space horror. Barely any movies about it and like 2 video games about it. Sad.
Wasn't meat loaf like the owner/administrator of the camp? This was pretty good, but I remember being let down by the ending
Mystery who-done-it slasher in a submarine
>reality is Suspended
I thought the point of musicals is there as music numbers in that reality
>tfw dead space is ded
>want to list Space Horror
>can't recall any without Google
Dark Side of the Moon. Apollo 18. Mars Zombies. Ghosts of Mars. A Life.
none
love the movie btw
I would say it's more Creature Horror.
>ghosts of mars
Fucking hell I forgot about this one.
Haven't seen Dark Side of the Moon, might check it out, thanks.
Don’t forget Ishtar!
Below (2001) is set in a submarine but it might be more about ghosts than a slasher, can’t remember
I wish they’d adapt The Centuri Device by M. John Harrison. It’s a complete inversion of the space opera genre.
ITT Genres that have basically reached their endpoint .
Do they make movies about tough but fair teachers who have to come in and teach a class of unruly shithead teens anymore?
Ed Wood
Good Night and Good Luck
Bad Lieutenant and Taxi Driver. Is there a term for movies like this?
Tucker and Dale vs Evil was probably the last great slasher.
Movie execs are cheap and have unpaid interns photoshop their posters.
Isn’t this also the cover art for a Crimson Glory album?
Love that one
no thats racist also white savior complex
Seems like any type of sea creature horror movie was ruined by Jaws.
No one is able to be as good as Jaws, so they just go the schloky movie route.
No because not accepting criminal behavior is racist towards black culture
Yeah no, I mostly end up reading books for space horror. There’s plenty of that.
You’re lying. Posters are all over the fuckin place at most major theaters.
Maybe where you are from but here there's about two of them and thats it.
What a joke
Jeez,
It’s because there’s enough already that trying to make a new one would be cliche.
Stand and Deliver is the best one though.
Gritty urban thrillers? I guess that would include Se7en then.
>meh 80s horror movies are better than almost all modern horror films
80s horrors were in the sweet spot of not taking themselves too seriously but also not being offensively retarded.
>i like watching ghost moobies and meta ironic bullshit
Do you think he was being sarcastic?
Alice Eve ought to star in the remake.
That twist.
Galaxy of Terror
Xtro
The Terror Within
Inseminoid
