Doesn't seem to be many on the market

>He didn't get the steelbook

Its out? I didn't know that.

Hello fellow Sup Forums fan! I have picked up my uHD copy as well from my local consumer shop!

They had a million DVD copies and a bunch of blurays but this one was the last UHD, I don't even have a player yet but I got the TV for it.
Whats the steelbook got?

This has the prologues and special features which is just some blade runner 101 stuff and some scene building stuff, was hoping for more

I'll tolerate this shilling for once, BR2049 was fairly good on the big screen.

is here in NZ, it's priced really cheap compared to other UHD's

The stereo book has everything you're version has but I'm a fancy case

I went to Target because I got a gift card for Christmas and they only had DVD copies. I need this and the original on Blu Ray badly.

It's sold out on UHD at the Best Buy near me in NYC, Barnes and Noble had it in stock for fucking 45 dollars so I'm going back out tomorrow to find a cheaper copy

Seriously how many of you are running a 4K player?
I'm about to buy one in the next few hours

Got the steelbook (preordered it, which is a good thing because it's seemingly sold out most everywhere).

Unfortunately, when I watched the UHD BD last night, I started getting freezes, skips, and artifacts in the last third of the movie, so I think I may have a bad disc. Gonna trying cleaning it (it should be clean since it's new out of the box, but occasionally they aren't). If that doesn't work, I'll have to see if I can get a replacement.

Other than that I thought it was really great in 4K. I don't have a sound system yet, and even with TV speakers it sounded really good, too.

Got a Sony UBP-X800 when Best Buy had them on sale for like $150 back in November. It's hooked up to a 55" Sony 4KTV, which is our second one, actually: we had a XBR-55X850D that had its panel go bad back before Xmas, which Sony has replaced for us (it was still under warranty) with a XBR-55X900E.

I did buy Dredd on DVD.

Xbox one s. it fucking rocks

Pre-ordered the Limited Premium Box from Japan.
Which has the SteelBook, 4K, 3D, 1080p and bonus discs, and all kinds of other goodies.

I also already have the 4K and 3D US releases from the US, and the 4K one is a SteelBook.

>full library of ps4 games
just murder me

How many Yen did that cost?

Just get a stand-alone UHD Blu-ray player. They're less expensive than a new console.

My tv is a 4K Bravia and also sony sound bar/sub but the players are fucking insanely priced.
I was looking at the cheapy panasonic that has the internals of a high end player. No wifi though and not sure if it will be usable via my bravia remote

xbone plays UHD?
Does it lag? how are the load times?
Does it do HDR well?

I would also like to kkow

25,920 Yen.
It also comes with a DigiPak.

Also, I have an Oppo UDP-205 for my 4K Ultra HD player.

I got the 4K without the proper equipment. Good things it comes with the bluray. I believe the term is future proofing.

W2C region free Steelbook?

Sold my old fatass xbone on ebay recently and looking to pick up a one S to watch kino on my new 4k tv.

Just waiting for a good deal, it's gonna be sweet.

Get an xbox one s

>the players are fucking insanely priced.
They're coming down, at least last year's models are. I think the LG is down to $100 at this point. One of the Samsungs is $150. The Sony I have is going for $200, but like I said it was on sale for $150 for Black Friday.

>25,920 Yen.
Yeesh.

don't forget your soy latte too, soykiwi

That costs more than a lot of the stand-alone players. It's only worth it if you want it for the games, and even then only if you don't have a PS4.

I wish the shittty fucking PS4 would play uhd's, what the fuck were they thinking?
Sony were like the founding fathers of the bluray, and now they just threw it all away like yesterdays jam.

4K is region-free.
However, there are some discs which are different from their international counterparts.

One would be La La Land, where the French disc has DTS:X audio instead of Dolby Atmos.
Another one would be Arrival, since Sony distributed it in some countries while Paramount in others. And both Sony and Paramount discs are different.

And most notably, Your Name. (Kimi no Na wa.) has a different 4K disc in Hong Kong than the one released with the Collector's Edition in Japan, a major difference is that the Hong Kong disc has a Cantonese dub in addition to the original Japanese version with English and Chinese subtitles while the Japanese disc only has Japanese audio with Japanese, English, and Chinese subtitles.
The Hong Kong disc also doesn't have the trailers and the Japanese version with English songs which were on the Japanese disc.

I went to Barnes and Noble but they didn't have it in stock at all, even on DVD. Ended up getting Multiple Maniacs on Bluray.

I was considering buying a 4k drive for my computer but I'm running AMD and you need Intel's iGPU to run it, what a fucking scam. Does MakeMKV work with 4k Bluray yet?

Someone find me the god damn steelbook so I can buy the stupid thing

4K is a meme. I’ll stick with Blu-ray

Well over here a high end player is like $700-$1000
but there is a panasonic model with the same internals as high end for $300
Would love to know more about xbone uhd playback though

It boggles my mind how fucking Sony didn't bother putting a 4K Bluray player in the PS4 Pro. The PS3 was one of the main reasons Bluray won, why the hell wouldn't they support 4K on their new console?

oppodigital.com/blu-ray-udp-203/

Where do you get it?

They were probably thinking that they didn't want to increase the price of the PS4 Pro by $50 to include UHD support. Yes, PS3 did get a lot of people buying it for Blu-ray, but overall

>599 USD

was not a win for them.

4K resolution itself is a marginal upgrade from 1080p, yes. What is definitely NOT a meme, however, is HDR.

I thought that too until I saw 4K HDR content played on a high end TV

this is the one i got

amazon.com/gp/product/B076HQ99Z6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the price is lower than others because it doesn't come with wi-fi support and all the unnecessary netflix/amazon shit. it works beautifully with my 4k blade runner and dunkirk blurays.

ignorance
actually try it before you shit talk it, retard

youtu.be/6iqmIoHL74Y

>Mom! I posted it again!

It's a very limited stock of only 3000 sets.
And the pre-orders are all sold out.
I was lucky to secure my pre-order.

It would have certainly helped sell the console more though. How many normalfags are gonna go out of their way to buy a slightly newer PlayStation that isn't a PS5

This. Every time I see something in 4K it just looks wrong.

OP. Give me the digital code.

>starts talking about star wars
what a faggot

want one my digital codes? ;)

By the way, I'm talking about the Japanese Limited Premium Box.

Sure. I have an apple tv 4k

Tempted to give this away
Whats the deal with it? Does it lock to one device or what?

No, it locks to one account. You just need the app on any device.

i wish ps4 pro played 4k bd

Where do you get it?

Normalfags aren't really buying XB1S because of 4K either, though. Normalfags mostly don't have 4KTVs yet. We're still very much in the early-adopter phase here.

PS3 and Blu-ray came along at a fairly unique time where people were having to buy new TVs because of the digital switchover. 4K is going to be slower to catch on because it's a comparatively minor upgrade and there's no similar urgency. Also, a lot of people bought new TVs when 3D was being pushed a couple of years ago, and aren't about to drop $1000 on a new one so soon (especially after it's become painfully clear that they got burned on a gimmick).

So for PS4 Pro, Sony chose to target hardcore gamers, not the mass market.

Gib address so I can come break your legs and take it

Look at this.
Amazon Japan.

You can get the SteelBook as a Best Buy exclusive in the US, or an HMV exclusive in the UK.

...

>Mfw I now remember whatever the Xbox version of Blu-ray was that failed so miserably

>Normalfags mostly don't have 4KTVs yet. We're still very much in the early-adopter phase here
Have you been to a Best Buy lately? Stores are pushing 4K TV's hard, you can get one for only slightly more than a 1080p TV. The Christmas sales were ridiculous. You can't even buy high end 1080p TV's anymore, they only sell the shit ones, just like 720p.

can i get the UV code my boy

I watch UHD Blu rays on the X but as far as I know it uses the same drive as the S, HDR content looks pretty great from what I've seen

>Be jealous of my limit edition steelbook
>Can't afford a table that isn't breaking
You're still failing at life bud

>US and UK only

HD DVD's, they failed because they had slightly less storage than Blurays, (who cares) and you had to buy an attachment for the 360. The biggest issue imo was it was mismarketed, The whole reason Microsoft backed HD DVD's was because Bluray DRM was very aggresive and not PC friendly. HD DVD's were meant to be PC friendly like regular DVD's. The problem was that HD DVD drives were very slow coming out so PC users never adopted them. they should have advertised HD DVD for TV recording and home movies, like JVC did with VHS. Instead they tried to compete with Bluray head to head and failed miserably.

I thought it was because the porn industry got behind Blu-ray?

extract the video file from the 4k media and the PS4 will play it just fine

When are they doing more steelbook releases?

I want the Steelbook but I don't need it...

Yes, and that's been true of Best Buy for at least a year now, but the point is that people aren't buying new TVs in the volume they were in 2006-8. And the majority of normalfags don't have "high end" TVs, either: they have cheap ones from Walmart.

That was VHS vs. Betamax, and is mostly an urban legend, actually.

Lucky. Its like 42k yen now :(

why would any of that matter for digital

The porn industry is a mythic zero sum game used to launder money. How many people actually pay money for any porn? Literally nobody spends money on it because it's free

That's fanart. The real one doesn't look like that.

I remember almost all porn being on DVD well past 2008.

I got my BR2049 blu-ray in my Reddit Secret Santa with a bottle of Soy milk and some cuckold pornography.

The digital UV version is 4K?
I imagine that would take some downloading

>marginal
there are literally 3 times as many pixels in the margin of 1080p/4k

This is going back to the days before high speed internet. We used to jack it to magazines

i meant why would you spend extra money on a uhd bluray player when they all hypothetically should produce the same signal

the ultimate pleb trinity.

They didn't give it to me on Ultraviolet...this is what I have on Ultraviolet.

i too started dissing those games once I realized I'll never be able to finish any of them.

Post some UV codes niggas

Yes, but it's still marginal in terms of your ability to actually perceive that difference at normal viewing ranges unless you have a very large screen.

Don't get me wrong: it's an upgrade, but it's nowhere near the upgrade that 480i to 1080p was. For most people's set-ups (i.e. given typical viewing distances and screens under, say 60"), the far bigger improvement is going to be due to HDR, and not the increase in resolution.

Xbone supposedly doesn't have Dolby Vision HDR, although I'm not sure how much of a price premium that adds. It still has Dolby Atmos though.

What do you mean?
Blu-ray is 1080p/24
4K is 4K with HDR
UV is presumably yifi grade 1080p

where in NZ did you buy it from user?

>He didn't have awkward long jerk off sessions as the photo rendered using dial up
I'm old but you're a dinosaur

te warehouse

>This is going back to the days before internet.
ftfy

In the days of dial-up, we had to stitch scenes back together from a bunch of AVI/MPEG clips.

>magazines
If you were lucky.

Some of us had to make do with the lingerie section in the Sears catalog and the occasional National Geographic.

I had those too.
>you just missed out on being drunk teen awkwardly buying a penthouse from a gas station late at night

Found my Kino collection. Weep bitches.

The Steelbook?

>DVD owner: bluray is a meme. I'll stick with 480p

The PS4 is the "popular console" this generation. They know retards are going to buy it whether it can play 4k discs or not. I might have been tempted to get a PS4 if it wasn't so gimped.

No, they had 1 uhd left which i bought, tons of dvd and lots of blu-ray. didn't see any steelbook

I just checked jb hifi and mighty ape, none are selling the steelbook
