John Ford

Once upon a time in the west
El Dorado
Basically anything with Clint in it
3:10 to yuma

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. Probably on par with TGTBTU

...

The good the bad and the weird.

Shane

...

...

Outlaw Josey Wales is a absolute must.

Not a movie but Godless was pretty good.

Ridiculous 6

High Plains Drifter is basically Dollars part 4

high plains drifter
the django series (the Italian ones not the tarantino one)
young guns 2 (I've never seen it but it's got a great nude scene)

it was kino

The Searchers is the greatest western ever made. Pure kino.

Hell on wheels

listen up.
these fuckers don't know kino.

Trust me, start with Westworld with Yul Brenner. When you're ready, you can move onto Back to the Future III. thank me later

youtu.be/8RwNqorvjtg

Rio Bravo
El Dorado
Red River
High Noon
Rio Grande (about cavalrymen vs Injuns but still)
She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (same as Rio Grande)

Lot of good ones here I would endorse. Here are a few more:

Winchester '73
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
The Searchers
Stagecoach
Rio Bravo
True Grit (Both versions)

quick and the dead if you want to watch rami kino

The Searchers is a must especially if you appreciate cinematography.

How can Yul Brenner be so effortlessly Chad in that scene despite getting his ass kicked? I'm sure it's almost entirely due to his voice. Also this.

true grit (2010)

Thanks everyone, The Searchers looks nice so I’ll start with that one.

overrated

Rango

Roger Deakins is a master.

This is my favorite western. It might be the most well done book-to-movie in existence. I'd put it against anything except LOTR.

I know i'm gonna be lambasted for this opinion, but everything about that movie was perfect.

Lol piss off that movie was shit
>le edgy tarantino fag

that's a classic, and in the reviews of the time, everyone says that John Wayne was "so hateful!" in it. It really is a slice of life in the [whatever decade it was made...early 60s?].

Zzzzzzzz the movie fucking bore fest the old one with johnny cash was kino though

The Great Silence
Companeros
The Big Gundown

Pretty much all thats been rec'd here is good.

Assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford is pure kino but better watched later. Its not a spaghetti and more about demystifying the western.

short attention span faggot go watch some marvel shit

no everyone likes it.
I honestly think it's better than the book. Having labeef split with them in the beginning was a really good choice.

train robbery scene was fucking masterful. not action western but more character study. very interesting film.

John Wayne being the avatar of true bitterness is where he really shines. No one is more hardass than a guy who's going to solemnly blow his brains out after the movie ends.

Tombstone
True Grit

The Searchers was '56. Way ahead of its time. It's John Wayne's best performance. He won an academy award for True Grit but it should have been for this.

Deadwood

The Quick and the Dead

on a side note.

can anyone suggest westerns that have good female nudity?

>tfw Blood Meridian is inadaptable

Deadwood

Hahahahha short attention span oh please
Heres a list. Of all the westerns ive watched
The dollars trilogy, high plains drifter, the outlaw josey wales, pale rider, the big gundown, death rides a horse, day of anger, all the sartana and sabata movies, a pistol for ringo, the return of ringo, django 66 version, the mercenary, companeros, johnny oro, the dirty outlaws, the great silence, a bullet for the general, high noon, the man who shot liberty valance, the seachers, hondo, rio bravo, el dorado, the shootist, mclintock, big jake, true grit both versions, that jesse james movie no i didnt sleep through it but i found it pretentious, Shenandoah, johnny guitar, the wild bunch, the professional's, once upon a time in the west, duck you sucker, the magnificent seven, unforgiven, 3:10 to yuma, butch cassidy and the sundance kid, tombstone, i saw both of tarantinos westerns and hated them

comfy comedy western but no where near as good as some of the suggestions in this thread

Hey man ive seen it like 3 times and honestly i dont see the big fuss over it it seemed too artsy

Is Once Upon a Time in the West better than The Good, the Bad and the Ugly?

Yes it is

Hateful 8 is actually kino

>better than the book
RARE
A
R
E

but if anything had a chance, this is it

Wanted more Frank Griffin though

No its fucking not i honestly could not enjoy it it was way too fucking bloody it was so annoying it was also super edgey fucking n word thrown around every second gay bj scene nut shot at the end people getting their heads blown off like its some kinda slasher movie

You hate Jesse James and Hateful 8. I don't need to convince this thread that you have bad taste. (I'll admit I thought Django Unchained was one of Tarantino's worst)

Once Upon a Time in the West has awesome cleavage, heaving bosoms, mommy, milkers, whatever. better than clear nipples

that moment where he goes into bar and is fucking despised and picked on for being a snitch, you just fucking despise him as much as people in the film. jesse james welcomes him into the gang and he stabs him in the back. i liked this movie because of how much i hated casey affleck in it.

Bad taste? Suck my dick I'll truce it with jesse james but hateful 8 was straight ass

>amazing writing
>amazing cast
>amazing sets
>tits
>serious drama but funny as fuck, too

Only downside is it was canceled too soon but at least we got 3 seasons out of it. One of the best shows ever.

so many recommendations, but when I finally finish the show i'm watching I can't remember any of them

nah, the characters were great

Maybe not a western in the traditional sense, but easily Tarantino's best movie.

Get back to me when you have seen Winchester 73, aight?

I'll admit their was some scenes i did enjoy mostly by the end of the movie though
>well that dirty little coward who shot mr.howard laid poor jesse in his grave

I gotta make sure to watch that one
You ever hear of that new channel on tv called grit tv their always showing western movies and tv shows love me some laramie

it's fun to watch

I wasnt feeling it

Alright it breaks down like this
>>Django>Jesse James>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hateful 8.

I'm sorry, I like Tarantino but Hateful 8 was just him masturbating, and I didn't like it.

Open Range

youtu.be/eEneQFEFgMQ

Nah dude pulp fiction will always be his best always

Watch Thunderhoof idiot

Every western thread is exactly the same.

...

> shoots 9+ times from the same revolver without reloading
???

The Wild Bunch
The Shootist

>western thread
>posts tarantino flick

Kino

It's not it would just be a financial disaster
>another 10 minute scene of...wild flowers
>Another scene of nothing but a group of very dirty men riding horses through another desert
>3 minutes of violence which makes the opening of Saving Private Ryan look tame
I would literally masturbate in the theater during those storm scenes though

so is there any value to classic western TV such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Virginian? or is it all too dated and low budget? i like the genre but don't know if those kind of shows hold value?

Thats what im saying fuck that tarantino shit

>laramie
kino. fun town, too, if you ever get through wyoming.

My mom bought our family Gunsmoke on DVD. many comfy memories watching that with the folks. Mostly because of them remembering the good episodes and having fun getting me into it. Same with the Dick VanDyke show, oh man, you wanna talk comfy...

The Searchers influence can be seen in so many countless movies (particularly star wars) and is often regarded as one of the great westerns, but one the greatest movies of all time. So op if you're reading watch The Searchers.

For me, it's Bone Tomahawk

5/5 Grandpa kino

Laramie's first couple of seasons when it was still in black and white is pure kino the virginians good, laredo, the rifleman, all good

plebs both of you.

I love me some benny hill, alfred Hitchcock hour, twilight zone, 3s company, good times, sanford and son, barney miller
For me Thats comfy

...

what if reservoir dogs was a western?

It was pretty good a little to heavy on the gore for my taste but still very enjoyable

That'd be hateful 8 mate

nah. plus for a few dollars more is better than both

Lee van cleef is a fucking legend

3 times it was said, I'll say it again. The Searchers is fucking fantastic.

"Surprised to see me". " i knew you'd come".

Classic Zahler

What the fuck is Django then? Beside Christoph Waltz carrying the movie

Yes.

why do underage redditards insist on ruining every thread?

The Proposition
Van Diemen's Land
Sweet Country
