(sorry for no storytime Saturday, life happened)

also note that apparently his ass is better than the JSA's, which I find hard to believe

bleedingcool.com/2017/07/03/dc-comics-talent-marvel-legacy-misfire/

Rich put an article up about something Sup Forums was thinking was gonna happen after DC put out a line of artist-centered books and marvel said people don't care about artists
So it'll be interesting to see if the marvel to DC migration happens 5 years after to the Dc to marvel migration started

...

show it, you cowards

if a fraction of what Rich the leech posted today is true, about Legacy, what a stupendously cack-handed undertaking

And Ribic's art looks good as usual
still loling about it being 1,000,000 BC. nothing like DC One Million, no sir, made up that name outrselves

the ongoing Chaykingeddon is too stupid even for me, lover of stupid comics drama on Twitter

lol moving to the SA

Waddup thread, feels good to be back to storytiming.

At least some people are getting that it's better to just ignore it and not buy anything and save your money for projects that you'd like instead

Hello, Storyteller.

Not much to say about Starman, honestly. It's a bit boiler plate, really, so much so that I'm tempted to just talk about my new cat.

Seems to have people sit up and think about Image as a 'publisher' anyway. It's twisted round so many times in just a couple days I can't even follow it anymore.

Same. Poor Brandon Graham got the full brunt of our favorite furry's fury.

Hi X-user.

There was one guy who was a real asshole to Dustin Weaver, being all like "well, I was going to buy Paklis but then I saw that Chaykin comic so I put it back down". Like, goddamn, man.

"Furry fury" just reminded me of when the Snagglepuss pages first came out and furries were so angry that they didn't want to fuck him, and a bunch of furry artists redrew him with bedroom eyes and everything.

Hi user.

cats are awesome, we can always talk about cats

I nearly died at 'spacetwinksplaining'

I'm torn because Image does try to pitch itself as a Place and a Thing, and yet it's not, really, and most people who work with it don't WANT more editorial oversight

also apparently people are mad at KSD? which I could have called because the DeFractions are real close to Howie, they're not going to unperson him over this, even if they might sigh internally

It's been a pretty bad couple of days for Marvel, including Rich posting his "Runaways is totally a stealth mini, be aware of that" article

>ongoing
Nah it seems to have subsided to just a low level of " this comic is garbage" anger. Once Image pulled the cover a good number of people moved on

Like the person who sent Simone a message saying they were going to pirate her comic because they love her, but didn't want to give Image money.

I find the idea that your fav must make a Statement about something kind of repellent, and yet, if you've built a brand and positionality around being woke, you've kind of done it to yourself

endless, endless field positioning, with nary a reference to aesthetics in sight

I missed that one

>couple days
More like couple months lol

Anyway that stealth mini article was just common sense at this point.

...

No shit, it's a new Marvel book launching from a YA author. Is there a Marvel launch which ISN'T a stealth mini at this point?

Moonstruck is clearly too furry for me

They seem to be letting Iceman and Jean Grey get more tan 6 issues

That's the lesbian werewolf/monster romance one, right?

Should've got Emily Carroll on board twitter.com/emilyterrible/status/881940936951050240

...

protip: this is not what anywhere that close to SA looks like

BleedingCool is loading slowly for me, but this should be it:
archive.is/ePDrb

tl:dr:
>"Starting in September, I’ll be the ongoing writer for Runaways. And if people buy it, I will continue to write it. And it’s the sort of thing I can do while I write books, so I’ve already written the first six issues.”
>Oh and the Amazon listing for the collected issues? Those six issues that Rowell has already written for next year in Runaways… no Vol 1 or similar listed in its title, which an ongoing series would get.
Plus we had Gabriel yelling about how they don't call things miniseries anymore

I think this seminar/staff training thing is just going to fuck Image up again down the line, because anyone who pretends they aren't primarily a business is kidding themselves. And if this doesn't mean more editorial influence, then what does it mean?

I guess so, I just saw the preview pages on BC

whoever in the comments says it looks like a BOOM! book is dead on

BC's loading time is chugging cock today

>Big Two comic books
>accurate geography anywhere outside of New York

Some people want Stephenson gone, which I wouldn't mind desu

I hate how Image went from gimmicky not Marvel to not Fanta to gimmicky not Fanta thanks to those retarded themed variants.

Wow, this is like they looked at a picture of SA in a history book and drew it like that.

Reminds me how my non-Texan friends think all of Texas looks like the Fort Worth Stockyards.

There was a horrible fuss at the Duke Divinity School over a senior, much prized but cantankerous professor objecting to some semi-mandatory training, but I'm with him in that 3 days of 8 hours is a huge commitment for minimal return

I dunno, offer it for people who want to learn more, but I don't think making people go to things like this cultivates other emotions above resentment, which is counterproductive. You make HR/Legal do these things so you won't do things that generate lawsuits you'll lose.

It's by one of the Lumberjanes writers and has a Kate Leth feature, it basically is Image publishing a Boom! book. Makes sense, that's an audience Marvel has tried to get too. And it is quite literally the coffeeshop setting people ask for.

>Moonstruck is clearly too furry for me
Oh girl, I lost any semblance of "too furry" long ago. As long as the being in question is sapient and of proper age for its species, I really don't care anymore.

hey they get Riverwalk points here, though

>to not Fanta
More like Not Vertigo/Epic/Dark Horse/First etc

Outside of things like Pencil Head or The Humans I can't see anything fitting in at Fanta

there are so many HORSECOCK! jokes to make

Aha, I see. Well, I don't begrudge that audience getting books it wants, I just want 0% technology part of it

btw hair got dyed, lessons were learned, because for a little bit there I looked like a batshit Skyrim Nord

(the Alamo is not very big)

>there are so many HORSECOCK! jokes to make
[insert "horse pussy" reference here]

Though personally, while equines are nice, I prefer fish.

...

wtf

If anything Fanta has become more Image-y recently.

Please stop.

Tom Scioi posted her " directors commentary" for the Super Powers back ups in the Cave Carson trade

ambarb.com/?p=1943

> These stories take place on Earth 5C10L1 in the DC Multiverse. I wrote 3 years worth of stories for Super Powers and a New Gods OGN, just in case I ever got the opportunity.
> Earth 5C10L1

...

yessss

>her
Meant his, derp

>I wrote 3 years worth of stories for Super Powers and a New Gods OGN
Holy shit!

>her
???

my body is ready for the next KFC comic

...

Heh. I enjoy the thought of you trying to purge the image of me pounding it to fish porn from your minds.

>orca
>fish
user, pls.

Holy shiiit

...

I mentioned PanelxPanel last thread (or a few threads) ago and I dunno if anyone gives a shit but turns out I got a free copy gratis and it was pretty much a disappointment.

Comes across as criticism designed to be incredibly marketable: the actual breakdowns are good, but the creator interviews seem a bit high on their own fumes (and the magazine's position as a whole is fawning) and a substantial number of the credited writers are only in a 4-5 page section of different blurb ads for current comics. The fact each issue is basically gonna be built around a new Image #1 too...

brain fart

That sounds pretty underwhelming.

...

Mentally classing you as T.C. from Preacher right now

>The fact each issue is basically gonna be built around a new Image #1 too
Wasn't the first issue focused on a Black Mask comic though?

so how are you owls today

Eh, this is JSA Storytime. We're all a bunch of filthy degenerates here.

Hell, the origin of "hoot hoot" alone is evidence enough.

...

the love of the space owls is pure

Reinvigorated and inspired. I'm going back to writing after this storytime.

Good to hear, user.

I have to work tomorrow but the magic words are involved

The Crash Bandicoot remake is entertaining enough. Fuck the bridge levels. Coco is cute. CUTE!

It was, yeah. I like the content (especially from creators) about actual construction, there's a good introductory lettering thing, but there are like half a dozen pages of this kinda thing that's gonna be a regular feature. The long interviews are definitely hit or miss. It's not dense either: 80-odd pages, but every section has a stand alone title page. Contents are on page 5, first feature starts on page 10.

It did make me wonder if Gillen gets paid for blurbs (I don't think he would have been for his one here) and if so how much he charges.

That's true, yeah. It's an Image one next week (a comic I am actually looking forward to) and I see it primarily sitting there going forward. Maybe it'll be more diverse in its sources than I'm anticipating, I could be wrong. It didn't help that I wasn't into the comic it features tired of the non-superhero book having 'superpowers!' as a reveal, and I don't think you can highlight that kind of twist as daring or different these days

...

Box wine?

Is it the same gameplay as the original (2D mixed with fixed camera behind the head) or is it a whole new thing?

ugh, no one gives a shit about capsule "buy this" shit

"time and a half"

If this is going to get good, it has to lean hard into the fucked-up stuff

But I like all those comics! Even though I dropped Giant Days when the original artist left

for some reason everything hurts today

:(

kek, did you get it sorted?

Acceptable fanservice, 7/10

there were some signs of this already with some guys like Coipel showing up in DC solicits again, should be fun

Same, but with updated visuals, and you can play as Coco.

And y'know, despite the new graphics, it still retains the look and feel of a 90s platformer. Like, it still gives off that distinctive aura, which is odd, but pretty fuckin' great.

there was some serious scrubbing involved but it looks fukken cool

I like them all too but come the fuck on. That's a recurring, multi-page feature in your magazine? That's the thing people are saying "Hey I'm in this" about?

if they poached Immonen, that'd be something

I, too, want a healthy Marvel, but I don't see this regime course-correcting itself at all

Marvel has proven to everyone that they won't change unless they are actually punished first

Wasn't Ribic supposed to working on an Image series? Lazy bastard.

Waiting for the evil mouse-eared suits to step in and chop heads desu. THAT'S how you'd get comics for kids in stores again.

Good luck

Probably too late for that, kids don't shop at stores anymore. It's all digital for them.

Not an artist but according to Brett Booth DC are trying to get Waid back.

The "creators not set on books" thing reminds me of when DC had people competing for a book with pitches, and that was unhealthy as fuck

It will be downloaded directly into their brains through their fave youtubers then.

this is bringing back all my memories of WordPerfect 5.0 macros and the insane keyboard plate you could use to remember them

A TIME BEFORE MICE, KIDS

I don't really want him back unless it's editorial. The last good thing he did was 52 and he might have just been carried by the other 3.

By life, do you mean 1000 page Tad Williams novel?
