I used to love Marvel but I feel like a sucker giving them money if they apparently despise me.

Nobody is saying they despise those people there, just that they don't have a lot of exposure to people of different cultural backgrounds, which is true. The characters there are not painted as malicious or evil. It's supposed to be something middle class minorities can relate to.
It's literally the exact same type of thing that was in the original Spider-Man comics. Peter was a highly intelligent lower-class kid, who the middle to upper middle class kids at school who were into sports didn't really understand. Of course, originally Ditko actually WAS shitting on those kind of people, but later on pretty much everyone else depicted them as just harmless kids being kids having difficulty dealing with things that were different.
You know what actually WOULD be bad writing? If nobody in the comic ever acknowledged the fact that Kamala was Muslim or acted like it was out of the ordinary. That's bad diversity writing, because in real life everybody has a reaction of some sort, be it positive or negative, when they see someone who is different from everyone else, ESPECIALLY kids who have limited experience with the world. That's what makes Kamala such a good minority character, actual minority kids can relate to her experiences, she isn't just automatically loved and accepted by everyone, she isn't just a white character painted brown for diversity points.

That's not even true for this character acrossthis series.
Zoe is here introduced as the cheerleader bitch gf of the quarterback.
Within the next 19 issues of this run she gets dropped by Josh for being an unpleasable cunt, falls from grace as she loses prestige and power over everyone else and apologises to Kamala and Nakia as she tries to now become a nicer person.
Then she and the reader find out what may have been the root cause for her issues earlier. She really, really wants to bone Nakia, who is none too thrilled by the proposition but does not hold it against Zoe.
Counter examples for your supposed trope within this book would be Bruno, Kamala's bestie and boy genius whose only real flaw seems to be a nagging feeling of inferiority and envy as Kamala hits it big and he struggles to pay for education after school.
Also the entirety of Wakanda is portrayed as arrogant pricks who look down on everyone else, with prominent figures being more than reckless.
Not to mention the titular hero fucking up all the time in every imaginable way.

All the comic is saying is that it's common for middle class white people to not be familiar with the culture of Muslims outside of what they've seen on TV, which is completely true, and it's not their fault. It's just something all Muslim kids deal with.
