Unholy Disney money

youtube.com/watch?v=wQ6JkIeApo8

Because this.

Mouse has good tier lobbyists in Washington DC.

To be fair, up until Youtube realized what was up and demonetized them, people were making a lot of money off of those bootleg Mickey and Minnie cartoons.

congress doesn't want porn being made with iconic pop culture characters

it's as simple as that

wrong

see: this is literally what has been said every time public domain laws are extended, that they don't want recognizable cartoon characters appearing in "adult content"

Disney has money and politicians are corrupt. The founding fathers should have came up with contingency plans to keep money from influencing but they were likley rich assholes too.

Daily reminder the only reason why this country literally imprisons people for sniffing a plant is because big business cant make money off of it.

Damn are you new to the job shill?

>they don't want recognizable cartoon characters appearing in "adult content"
And they've done a great job at that, right?

>were likely rich assholes too

Most of them were colonial 1% that got upset that Britain didn't allow them to expand further inland.

that doesnt make any sense, every Marvel that comes out there's an XXX porn parody, nothing is stopping people from making mickey porn

Public domain is owned by Disney

...

You see, it's like the glass coke bottle; as long as they keep actively producing it, they can keep it.

I don't want to see a Sup Forums-made Mickey cartoon

what does that mean?

that sounds retarded but you're probably right

Money talks

Money gets shit done
And American politics continues to be idiotic

Considering that Tijuana Bibles have been around for nearly 100 years, and that there's terabytes upon terabytes of porn of basically every "recognizable cartoon character" just a few keystrokes away online, all of which is covered by parody law, I don't buy that.

You can do a lot of seedy things as long as you have a bunch of coke.

i dont understand

Guess that the 80s never ended for some people.

now that we are back online, what would a post publicdomain mickey world look like?

Can anyone explain copyright to me? What, will Iron Man and Batman be in the public domain in 50 years and we will all be able to make movies and comics based on them?

did the mickey laws protect any other fictional characters?

Yeeaaaaah sure mister Mouse

Current copyright law is, I think is the life of the original author + 50-75 years

I mean, they did make billions adapting centuries old fairy tales.

So Iron Man will be public domain close to ~2100? Batman, Superman and Namor a bit earlier?

Seriously? When was this?

I ask because the idea of Mickey and co. drawing big money in current year floors me

Little kids still love them.

Corporations are considered people now and copyrights exists as long as the person is alive. So technically Walt Disney is still "alive".

>6 million views
>People are unwittingly letting their kids watch this shit

Holy fuck

Not necessarily. Specific works are subject to copyright expiration, but characters can be trademarked, which means that the rights to use that character can be held indefinitely as long as the rights holder continues to regularly create new content with the character. This is the case with most Disney characters, and you can expect that most popular superheroes are in the same boat.

The expiration of copyright still means that those early works can be reprinted and sold by any individual or company that decides to do so. But creating new content with the characters would be off limits (without some sort of license agreement).

no, disney will make sure to bribe politicians to extend it by then

I, for one, welcome our mouse overlords

>cheating public domain

Buying extended marking rights isn't cheating when your company is active.

Please give me a good reason why copyright should expire

12 fucking adverts on the video
That's the real crime here

I hope you don't unironicly not have an ad block user

I don't have it. I don't know where to get it without walking thought a virus minefield.

What browser(s) do you have?

>the Chrome and Firefox add-on pages are virus minefields
user...

chrome for main and Microsoft edge for porn related stuff

uBlock Origin

Money

disney created most of their beloved movies based on copyrighted work that went into public domain. We wouldnt have Frozen, Tangled,Pinochio, Beauty and Beast, etc if copyright never expired

Copyrights were originally created for the benefit of the artist. When the editorials replaced the nobility as the employers, the writers were in most cases exploited and they were literally starving while their works sold by millions. The copyrights were created for allowing artists to live from their work and be compensated from their contribution to the big industries. The expiration date was for the simple reason of the writer not being able to live forever and opening the posibility of others to rework these characters and world. The entire thing was twisted in favor of the industry. The author is completely irrelevant now.

>Edge for porn
how could someone be this wrong? If you want a secure browser you use FF with No Script, UBlock, and a proxy. and if that's not enough, use Tor

dont actually use tor

not like that, I use it because I don't shit where I eat. I'm not looking at cheese pizza or something

well obviously don't use Tor for le deep web, it pretty much confirmed to be a honeypot
if you just want a free, secure VPN it will work

Copyright expiration makes content freely available for everyone, increasing the wealth of information available to the entire public. And it incentivizes the continuous creation of new and original works.

>Frozen
>Tangled
>beloved

yes beloved.

there are Tijuana bibles of Disney characters

This is bogus. Pornographic material made involving Mickey Mouse would not infringe any copyrights as it is a parody.

>Disney claims it doesn't want porn made of its animated characters for muh morals
>Literally churns out overtly sexualized media involving underage girls who turn into broken, drugged out reprobates due to abuse by pedophile executives

Really rarifies your air.

>mom's bottom half nearly gets separated from her top half
>lets laugh this off!
jesus

This is what a brainwashed retard looks like, recognize it.

Porn has nothing to do with it. people have been making porn parodies for years from comics to cartoons no matter how unholy. Disney got deep pockets and public domain fucks with their business. If you can put the entire issue under the umbrella argument of "they don't want porn" then go ahead, but that makes you sound a bit retarded.

is it really that difficult to move Mickey into a corporate mascot to avoid the public domain?

This. I look forward to the day when people can better distinguish copyrights and trademarks, though it's a convoluted system.

Mickey Mouse is trademarked. He is protected indefinitely so long as he's in use.

Steamboat Willie is copyrighted. It will enter the public domain in 2024, unless a copyright extension is passed. Anyone will be able to sell, use, or remix the cartoon at this point.

>These fucking shills

What?
Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney died in the 60s/70s.

Current copyright law is Life+75years, isn't it?

>lets laugh this off!

*let's laugh this off!

Assuming Steamboat Willie enters public domain, new content of him can be created. It's the name "Mickey Mouse" and very specific images of him that cannot be used in trade, i.e. as a logo on DVD box art, as a mascot representing a company, etc.

It's important to note that only Mickey, Minnie, Pete, and story elements specific to Steamboat Willie can be used freely. Any other characters or story elements created after would still be copyrighted, so this wouldn't be the free-for-all some might believe.

>ads still play over this
>even though YT changed his rules to avoid this kind of content getting monetization

>don't use Tor
Sure, FBI! I'll be sure to negate one of the nodes that allows true anonymity, because everyone knows Tor doesn't actually get more secure with more people using it! That would just be silly! Ha ha.
