Why is it that American comics -- specifically Marvel and DC -- never end, Sup Forums?

why is it that American comics -- specifically Marvel and DC -- never end, Sup Forums?

pic not related.

Because we don't want them to.

they do

it's manga that drones on forever: One Piece has been going on for like 20 years and I don't even think they're at the half way point

One piece has been running a while, but it's a good 30 or 40 years shorter than Spider-man user.

Capitalism

but hasn't, say, Superman been "in action" since the 30s?

I think sliding timescale and universal changes explains that away.

One Piece has been going for 20 years, yes.
and when Oda gets tired of making it, he'll stop, and it'll be over.

Superman has been continuously published for 80 years, and will continue to be published for the next 50 and on, assuming the comics industry doesn't get completely obliterated at some point

Siegel and that other guy whose name escapes me stopped making Superman comics though. There are 20 million superman stories because he has 20 million authors. That's how the industry works. Same with movie franchises and shit. If JK Rowling's daughter or whoever decides to continue the story after she's inherited that IP then who is going to stop her?

if this thread is about telling people they can't write about their favorite characters then it's pointless and a thread died for this shit

But capitalism sells other things that end.

Why does James Bond never end? Granted I guess they did reboot it a few movies back.

Weak bait, just earlier this month a number of comics ended, including fan favorite America

>fan favorite.

Earth-2 Superman, sure, but you rarely see him these days.
Earth-1 Superman stopped being active in the 80's, so he had a good thirty years to him.
New Earth Superman's gone the longest, but he took a five year hiatus.

>Superman been "in action" since the 30s?
DC uses alternate universes to gloss over stuff like that. Marvel tries and fails to use a sliding timescale.

>why are USians so fixated on milking money cow at the cost of artistic integrity
dunno user, you tell me

>it's manga that drones on forever
Dude no.

You mean just Marvel and DC right, with a few indie exceptions?
Most comics end dumbass.

OP specifically asked about Marvel and DC you retard

Because you touch yourself at night.

Oh wow, it's this thread again.

Don't you guys love it when OP asks an intentionally stupid question solely for the sake of starting a discussion that everyone already knows the answer to, and has known the answer to, for literally decades?

A thread died for this shit.
