Classic Animation Thread

Talk or post about your favorite old shorts and the like. Here's you opener, 1934's Two-Gun Mickey.

What you consider 'classic' is open to interpretation and you're allowed to speak your case as much as you like on that particular matter. I kinda hope to see some stuff I haven't in this thread so, let's hope it's a successful one.

I dunno about you guys, but I find the idea of watching cartoons that are 82 years old a rather fascinating practice.

UP IN THE SKY, LOOK!

IT'S A BIRD

IT'S A PLANE

Not exactly unknown, but still one of my favourites:

What do you folks think of these coming out in relative proximity to one another?

Rhapsody Rabbit - November 9, 1946 (dailymotion.com/video/x2n7vd9)

The Cat Concerto - April 26, 1947

Fluid as fuck animation.

That's the ol' Fleischer house for you.

The production price was its weight in gold.

Money can do lots of shit if you're willing to actually fucking spend it.

>Outsold every DC DTV movie since The Flashpoint Paradox.
>Outsold every Scooby Doo DTV movie since Abracadabra-Doo.
>Outsold every Tom and Jerry DTV movie since Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes
>Started to turn a major profit this month due to Amazon holding the profits for Warner Bros for 3 months, before that it barely broke even as most of the 100,000+ sales were through Amazon.
>DVD-R release.
>Mostly straight interpositive transfers with a few Betamax tapes thrown in there for good measure, a few negatives but those came from the old Golden/Platinum Collections or unreleased Super Stars releases.
>Some sound issues, 99% of people did not care about it.
>Even with it's issues it still did better then those DTVs as of late.
>Because it did so will we are not only going to get a enchanted retail release of this but more Looney Tunes sets like it as well not just on DVD but Blu-Ray and 4K as well.

In short Porky Pig 101 did it's job right in the end.

I’ve always been fond of this old Felix short which is basically him getting drunk off his ass and seeing things:

That'll do, Pig.

That'll do.

I like the "Tim Burton" aesthetic of old spooky cartoons.
Minnie the Moocher (Betty Poop and Cab Calloway)

Bimbo's Initiation

Snow White (Bety Boop and Cab Calloway)

I've always been surprised nobody has ever tried to bring back Betty Boop.

Like, I think the last time she was ever seen was in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

for me at least I consider it anything made in the United States for theatrical release up through 1969(when Warner Bros ended production of the original Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies series, and the last Disney feature with Walt's involvement had come out 2 years earlier)

internationally it's a bit different, but I think that's a solid cutoff date for classical theatrical animation

The person from Warner Archive did not say what was next but I'm guessing Road Runner & Coyote is next due do that most of the shorts are already remastered.

Man, I just want them aired on TV again so more kids can see them.

One of the most underrated blackface cartoons in my opinion

An underrated wacky Daffy classic:
Mexican Joyride (1947)

I like cat concerto more not only because I grew up with it but also the bugs bunny short has some weird off model scene and those yellow gloves are just horrendous

But do you want them to ruin her if they brought her back?
also the comics are pretty good

I love these threads
