Supposedly of tax write-offs the studios where they film and thus a lot of there facilities are in the UK. It's why outside of filming in Dubai (which was Jakku) almost all of TFA/TLJ were filmed in the British Isles. George Lucas in comparison at least went to Italy and Tunisia to do Naboo/Tattooine when the interior/bluescreen stuff were done in UK studios.

Not really. The one positive think I hear about it is that some people who read Kasdan's script thought it to be one of his best, but that's about it. If anything, I fear they're cram a crapload of stuff we've heard in the OT about him into this movie. "Here's the kessel run and btw, this is also the story how he and Lando met and how Chewie ended up with a life debt to him and of course we're going to see the sabbacc game where Han won the Falcon and if you're interested why he calls himself Han Solo then...". Well in the show, Pheonix Squadron has now allied with the rest of the Rebel Cells at Yavin IV.
So Pheonix Squadron brought the A-Wings into the Alliance (along with the promise of B-Wings in the future)
Other Rebels Cells brought the X-Wings (and U-Wings which have also shown up. I am inclined to believe that it was the Onderon Rebels and Saw Guerera that had the U-Wings because Saw has a black one in the show)

Filoni hyped up fans telling them that the X-Wings would show up in a spectacular moment that would feel deserving, and save the day. A moment that would be powerful and you'd feel that the X-Wings are special and not just there for the sake of it.
