You've got to hand it to Gunn, he took a D-list bunch of characters and turned them into one of biggest franchises of the current decade.
Which is weird cause nobody seems to be making parodies of it.
...
>Bendis comics being in the cover
Pffffft!!
>Punisher Red XMas
>Firestorm
wat?
I liked Super more than both movies. They're still fun though
More or less when people predicted it would be released.
What do you think is gonna be in it? Any new places or characters? Apparently even Adam Warlock is not confirmed though I find it hard to believe.
>Be christian actor
>Cheat on wife
everytime.
>[Muffled Silver Surfer TAS intro playing in the distance]
chris pratt becoming a super hot dude probably helped a lot too
Argentium!

This entire MCU shit is basically just Hollywood executives realizing that when you strip out (most) of the autism comic book IPs are actually a solid goldmine for material.
was expecting this to be an F is for Family thread.
>Firestorm
hang about
Old news, GotG 3 was confirmed a while ago and May 2020 is the next empty date on Marvel Studios's schedule (Spider-Man 2 took the late summer slot that Inhumans had).
I'm more curious what else Marvel has on the roster for Phase 4.
Late summer 2019 I should say.
It helped his career but destroyed his marriage

>I do [miss Fat Chris],” Pratt admitted. “My wife does, too. She likes to cook and I don’t get to eat as much of her cooking as I used to.
>"I was like a great pet fat guy. I think Anna is hedging her bets that one day I'll be fat again, and she'll say, 'Remember, honey, I always told you I preferred you this way.'"
>Anna Faris and Chris Pratt may seem like they have the perfect relationship, but there’s one thing getting in the way of their marital bliss: Chris’ shredded body.
>While many women might see their husband’s muscular form as something desirable, Anna isn’t about to put up with the ripped, gym-going alien who seems to have taken the place of herParks and Recreationstar hubby.
>During a pre-Emmys interview with Giuliana Rancic, theMomstar discussed how her husband got his body into amazing shape forGuardians of the Galaxyand how she plans to undo all of his hard work.
>"He wasn't always like that," Anna explained to Giuliana of her husband’s muscular form, which he showed off to the world in a shirtless Instagram pic. "Don't worry, I'm gonna pad him back up.”
I mean, that was kind of fairly obvious to anyone who actually read comics tho. Well, it was somewhat obvious. I don't think anyone ever thought there'd be a GotG movie that normies actually liked 10 years ago but people were clamoring for Iron Man, Captain America, Wonder Woman, etc. movies.
The problem is that Hollywood Execs are hovering around 40-50 usually, at least the ones who have any real power to greenlight shit and run the show. They only remember shit that happened between their ages of 10-20 for nostalgia fuel, so naturally you have to wait around 30 years for any nostalgic shit to come into full swing.
So it takes 30 years between the end of Silver Age and roughly 2008 to get Bronze Age comic adaptions, aka comic book shit that's not watered down or absolutely rewritten to appear edgier or Batman.
This also explains future trends, like why anime seems like it's headed for a huge Western push in the 2020s despite the fact that the only anime normies seem to recognize is shit from the 90's like Eva and Cowboy Bebop. 1990 + 30 = 2020, so when all the millennial execs start greenlighting reboots that don't suck dick they'll naturally start with works they remember best, aka works that came out when they were kids. This will also likely begin the start of story-driven video game movies getting gud, but exclusively shit from the 90's.
Oh boy another fucking marvel movie
>normies seem to recognize is shit from the 90's like Eva and Cowboy Bebop.
lmao more like Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and Pokemon
I genuinely feel bad when he announced this...
Which, with the exception of Naruto, are all from the 90's you fucking moron. And I bet that Naruto either won't get a western adaption next decade or will get one but it's DB Evolution-tier cancer.
Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion, Bebop, DBZ, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, all huge names in the 90's.
Gotta admit, it's going to be interesting to see if live-action anime movies become the next trend in Hollywood.
I'd kinda fucking kill for good live-action movies of Eva, Cowboy Bebop, Dragon Ball Z, and Sailor Moon.
>"Don't worry, I'm gonna pad him back up.”
Wasn't Pratt the one who got a whole bunch of shit when he talked about how much better he felt to be alive when he got /fit/?
She had a fat fetish.
So she is basically a fatty chaser.
>Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion, Bebop, DBZ, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, all huge names in the 90's.
>lmao more like Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and Pokemon
Meanwhile the American anime projects in development include Robotech, One Piece, Sword Art Online and fucking Fruits Basket. Also Beyblade if you count that as an anime project instead of a toy project.
Bebop is now in development hell along with Akira. I'm surprised someone hasn't taken a yaoi project to Netflix, Dramatical Murder seems like something they'd jump on.
>Fruits Basket
Genuinely asking, that's not in development hell either?
It probably is.
The same company developing it is also doing the Cowboy Bebop movie. I believe they're owned by FOX so Disney may own the live action rights to Cowboy Bebop and Fruits Basket now.
but 2 was fucking shit.
Seems more likely to me she feels threatened now that he's hot and can bang anyone he wants
Unbelievable, not a SINGLE DnA/Giffen era issue.
[seething internally]
One thing I wonder is how successful this will be a decade or so later when people have like fifty fucking movies they gotta get through. I always saw one of the biggest appeal to these movies was that people who thought the concept of a comic character interesting but were too intimidated by the huge amount of material they'll likely never get through in their life have something totally self contained they can enjoy instead.
The magazine guys brought in the comics.
It was a mix of Marvel and DC because they're casuals. Gunn pushed away most of the DC stuff but forgot about the Firestorm comic.
>with the exception of Naruto, are all from the 90's you fucking moron.
Naruto started in 1999
Parodies have gone the way of Scary Movie and the nail in the coffin that was Epic Movie. Weird to think that no straight parodies have been on the big screen in years now.
And most of these are gonna crash and burn because the people in charge aren’t gonna understand the source material.
The anime adaption, which is what execs are gonna remember and look to in another 10-20 years.
>Co-star is hotter than your wife
>Everyone thinks you're cheating
>Wife gets jealous and wants a divorce because she can't handle the rumors
The fuck
It is sad. I miss those Leslie Neilson or Mel Brooks parody films.
I can't say I liked it better, it's too different, but this and slither made me squee with joy when I heard he's going to make GotG.
I still can't believe they actually let him make it, considering other director choices.
>Fruits Basket
Source?
Explain further please.
>It ends up like Dragon Ball Evolution
>The entire movie plot is now more like JJBA where the zodiac people use powers related to their animals to fight each other
>All the characters will be American except for the ones that need to be Japanese
>Toaru now called Toni will end up being part of the Western Zodiac and this will lead up to a sequel
I've scared myself.
You couldn't think of posting anything else besides a twitter screenshot?
There actually are some girls who orefer hefty guys.
And befire anyone asks, No, it won't help you because your personality is shit.
Also, Detective Pikachu is still being worked on.
Pretty sure it starts shooting this year
Well, that's all the official news we need.
t. grew up with a father
That might not be the reason. The first one with an action movie with comedic bits, the second was a full-on action comedy. Lot of people aren't going to like the genre shift.
How do you parody a comedy?
>Gameboy and Dungeons and Dragons
Ah yeah, that's some good AD.
>one of biggest franchises of the current decade.
>one lame-ass cartoon adaptation
>one lame-ass telltale game
>no toys or other merch to speak of
>no one remembers the movies after they walk out of the theater
>yet another Disney space romp to add to the list of current Disney space romps
Yeah it’s huge, user.
>Phase 4
>Amazing Iron Boy 2, GotG3, Black Widow
Poorly.
is this shopped or is that really a black Willem Dafoe?
It's shopped, i recognize the background from spider-man.
Well, and Dr. Strange 2
yes, which is why women prefer jonah hill over channing tatum...jesus fucking christ you women have no self-awareness.
It was courtesy of the short lived race filter on faceapp.
Underrated
It's like when Emma Watson said that women shouldn't go for chads and then starts dating a Rugby player
This decade is shit for pop culture
That's actually somewhat the case. She ended her first marriage when she got more famous than her husband, and when Pratt achieved megastar status she felt their relationship had lost its balance. This isn't even theorizing, she's flat-out admitted it.
>mfw vol3 makes more than Star Wars IX and GOTG becomes the new beloved space series for the next generation
>Mel brooks
I-I never knew someone else here had taste...
There's going to come a point where Superhero movies enter into dark age and just stop breaking records and making ludicrous amounts of money for a few years in turn.
It happened to book adaptations like The Hobbit and now it's happening to Star Wars. Disney's audience being primarily children is helping them stay afloat, but it's only a matter of time.
Parody movies are dead, and Meet the Spartans killed them Even though I liked that one I don't think it's possible for something to be worse than Epic Movie in relation to how low it's goal was.
As it stands, it's superhero and Star Wars movies the ones keeping Hollywood afloat. Check the highest grossing movies of 2017, aside from Pirates and Beauty and the Beast (which are all Disney anyway), it's obvious that these movies dominate the market.
It seems to me this whole "superhero fatigue" thing is coming from folks in Independent Cinema who can't break even and blame it on these movies, even though without them there would be others taking that spot. I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon though, the reason why The Hobbit and LOTR did it was because they had no competition to do so at the time, beyond the odd superhero movie (again).
