Remember when a couple of kids went back in time to tell MLK he was going to die?

Yes I do.
Even in fourth grade everyone lost their shit over how crazy this video was. Same with the Magic Schoolbus episode where Arnold fucking dies.

I remember watching this movie as a kid in elementary school. It was pretty naive to assume that preventing MLK from dying will some how cause whites to be racists, the mother to work as a maid, and the Spanish chick to be an illegal. I guess the plot worked because the lead liked MLK as if he knew the person.

What's funny is that MLK is seen as a racist nowadays because of his desire for race blindness.

The girl suddenly becoming Schrodinger's Illegal Alien was the breaking point for my class. Everything else you could rationalize, but that one made no sense.

I don't know how to explain the way the movie handled his death. The whole thing is treated more as if Martin Luther King knew James Earl Ray was going to assassinate him. Basically the movie unintentionally made James Earl Ray aware that MLK has time traveling powers.

It operates under the assumption that MLK's death wouldn't motivate Cesar Chavez to fight for Hispanics Migrant Workers.

Woefully historically inaccurate. Was MLK Jr. a big part of the Civil Rights movement? Yes. Was he so important that removing him from history would completely stop the Civil Rights movement from taking off? No.

Yeah, but try telling a kid that.

Where many adults will balk at all the whites magically becoming 100% racists and kids see it as "racists aren't evil, just taught wrong," many children will see that as MLK somehow changong your place of birth rather than a change to how migratory laws play out.

The problem is that the protagonist took the 12 year old Martin Luther King to the future, before he became a civil rights leader

>race blindness.
Explain pls

looking back the only reason a lot of it gained footing at all was combination of all the other groups pushing at the same time, if you didn't have the other movements and leaders like Malcom X at the time MLK woulda been ignored. He literally made traction cause his motivations upset the status quo the least which is why the goverment kinda caved even while trying to dig up dirt on him.

you're projecting to much

But as I pointed out, Miles traveled back and time to save the 12 year old Martin Luther King. He didn't travel back to the height of the Civil Rights Movement and take the historical figure to the future. In short, the bad future happened because the protagonist used time travel to prevent an important person in history from becoming famous.

I think the Boondocks handled the idea of "MLK being alive in the present" better than this movie.

Remember how anti-racism was about seeing and treating other people beyond their race and how MLK once said he dreamed of the grandsons of slaves and the grandsons of slave owners could one day sit together at the same table in peace?

Turns out, that shit's actually bad now because it apparently means you're actually secretly a racist and are mocking P.O.C.s and pretending they don't exit and what not. MLK would get an Uncle Tom nowadays.

My childhood's MLK Day celebrations opened with "Cock-a-doodle-doo, motherfucker" and ended with retarded children singing about insects:

MLK is too conservative by 21st Century Standards. He's accused of being blind to race relations despite warning people that White Moderates were more dangerous than Old Racist Whites.

That's true, but I wouldn't really call it "racial blindness." MLK often did spend time to explicitly call out white people and addressed race head on. Like in the Letters from Brimingham jail.
hartford-hwp.com/archives/45a/060.html

You have to remember the moderates of that time were people who say on the issue instead of taking a side, letting the status quo abuse. What was moderate then is conservative now, and the extremes on both end are a danger to civil rights.

>girl is shown speaking proper English at all times
>suddenly gratuitous spanish halfway through the movie

How the fuck did continue become abuse, autocorrect?

Martin Luther King's dream of whites and blacks sitting together at the same table in peace was accomplished decades ago. I'm pretty sure he would hate the modern civil rights activists because they want to willingly segregate black people from the rest of the world and run their own businesses.

nostalgia'd

The movie forgets that Johnson wanted Blacks to vote Democrat for centuries and will do anything to keep them under the party's thumb.

Martin dying allows the bus driver to stop running over children?

What do Muslims have to do with this?

...

nah, it is ture
just tell any liberal that you do not judge people by race.

...

I'm surprised that the school wasn't named after Jim Crow when the went back to the future.

More screenshots of her?

Hi Woolie.

Tumblr is trying to push a narrative that MLK was pro riots, saying 'they are the voice of the unheard'. How true is this?

More like Brennan WIlliams.

Race blindness is pretty much just the "I don't see color" mentality.

Not seeing color sounds good in theory, like, looking at people and ignoring their racial backgrounds and such. Some people claim this is too extreme, and ignoring someone's race and also discredit their history and the context of how they experience life. Kind of like identity erasure.

It's kind of hard to explain because both sides have good points.

>I gotta tell MLK that he's going to die!
>By kidnapping him when he's 12 years old!
What the fuck was he thinking

I don't know. You have to understand that kid characters in cartoons were pretty stupid back in the day. In order to teach them a valuable lesson, they had to make a critical mistake and show the flaws of said decision before correcting it.

It's true that he said riots are the voice of the unheard. Unfortunately idiots interpret that as him being pro-riots when what he's really saying is that riots are inevitable when you systematically oppress a population.

I dunno about jews, but communism and race-mixing go hand in hand now.

Would anything actually be different if he wasn't assassinated?

he would still fight to the end of his days.

MLK not being assassinated in the movie isn't the problem. It's him being kidnapped at 12 years old by another kid his age from the future that creates the worst timeline.

I always thought going back to the day MLK died, save him from going out on the porch, and bringing him back to 1998 would’ve been the smart decision

Weren't Civil Rights Activists like Al Sharpton offended by the episode?

>now
Communism is anti-racism by definition, and all the most well-known and influential communists have campaigned for minority rights. That protestor probably blamed Jews because everyone blames Jews for everything.

This cartoon was meant to be educational, not entertaining. What you just described is something like Time Squad would do.

Not really. He probably died long before the SJW/ANTIFA thing even reared it's ugly head. And even if he did, he'd just be written off as a Uncle Tom or literally just 'an old person' by BLM. Plus, all the wealth he accumulated would've put him on ANTIFA's shit list. He's Bourgeoisi, after all.

If MLK would've died right before Obama got elected, or lived long enough for dementia to set in and be reduced to a vegetable. Either with it would've be pretty for him.

Yeah, and B.E.T. got pissed off at the show when there was an episode satirizing them. Hell, Tyler Perry lost his shit when there was an episode calling him out on his own bullshit. I find it hilarious that a show written by a black person managed to piss off so many of these "black activists," even more so had it been written by a white guy.

>Movie opens by playing the ending scene.

That confused the hell out of me as a child.

I thought there was some weird prologue time travel shenanigans going on.

Ghetto culture destroyed everything. We were so close.

Tyler Perry is the least politically active black celebrity. His plays get shit on for being simple Christian morality tales about a woman choosing to marry a decent light skinned black man over a wealthy dark skinned bald guy. He's hated among other black artists for having highly successful films while everyone else struggles to break even on the box office. Nothing's more Soul crushing to them than finding out a Medea flick makes more money than a Spike Lee Joint or a historical drama about the Civil Rights Movement.

Actually there's information that Dr. King would've started to eventually pushing for workers rights and other things perceived as "socialist" at the time before his death.

J. Edgar Hoover hated commies with a burning passion. Seeing those anti-war protests combined with the student rebellions and Civil Rights happening at the same time must've made him foam with rage.

Don't they save him from dying by taking his child self to the future, thus removing his influence entirely from the timeline?

I just had to post this.

youtu.be/hJtYVpLAZmI

Not surprising. Some Christfags I know turned to God after getting locked in jail, or doing drugs.

I could've sworn the dark skinned bald headed dude in one of the Tyler Perry movies got shot by the criminal he was trying to defend in a case, the mistress took all his money, and the wive physically abused him before they broke up.

Still the best Sup Forums related MLK thing

>Maria suddenly no habla ingles when mlk stopped existing

Oh ANTIFA wouldn't care. To them, he would just be an bourgeois putting on an act to fool the common man. Remarkably similar to the Bolsheviks denouncing their more moderate counterparts.

He'd go down the Bill Cosby way and get accused of harassment.

They'd have material for days.

That depends. Would they believe the tape released by the FBI made about MLK allegedly catching him with a Mistresses?

MLK was a serial cheater which, while rephensible, is not the same as sexual harassment

Be honest if MLK Jr in his prime made a pass at you, you could you turn down the sexual chocolate?

pretty sure they're the same guy

I think the boondocks episode of him would give you a good idea

I forgot about that movie.

Had to watch it at school 2 or 3 times.

>What's funny is that MLK is seen as a racist nowadays
Says who?

Point me in the direction of the people who need a beating.

>Same with the Magic Schoolbus episode where Arnold fucking dies.

When did that happen?

youtube.com/watch?v=l4QUgjxJbo4

Al Sharpton pretends to be offended by everything to put himself at the center of the issue and make money. They introduced a character in season 2 who was basically just a stand-in for Sharpton

imagine a Time Squad where MLK is Uncle Rukus

I wanna fuck the chick.

>this fucking thread
Holy shit what fucking monkey taught most of you people US history?

why did cartoons and comics diverge so heavily in terms of style

the more I think about it 20 years ago a lot more shows and comics had a similar style. comics are relatively unchanged but cartoons evolved beyond recognition

>every white male on earth was an asshole until MLK came along

lol

How long until someone makes "The virgin MLK VS the Chad Malcom X"?

We've still got 8 hours left

t. Maria

Settle down. The user you're replying to just looks at the world through the lens of "woah look at what this SJW on twitter said!"

The technology for animation advanced a lot more than the technology for comics.

...

>QUE? NO COMPRENDO! NO! POR FAVOR!
Who wrote this?

Man I forgot the qt latina in that movie.

Is there any r34 of her

If there isn't, there's always the option to put in a request.

The kid on the left's voice does not fit his design

I remember this holy shit. I remember most of my 4th grade class cried when the kid tried to stop MLK from going to the future to get killed. Also, this movie felt it could have been an episode of Static Shock

He did. He was shot by Gary Strugis the voice actor for pic related.

>Wear a jersey with 44 on it
>4 is the japanese number of death
The kid is the fucking grim reaper.

this girl is a qt

oh fuck, i forgot about this

brutal

Not a pedo but that girl is way too fucking cute

>implying anti-racism isn't just anti white racism and pro black racism
You got duped.

The US Education system.

The funniest part is when they send him back through the time portal, he ages about 30 years, and then you hear the gunshot.

90s cartoons didn't fuck around. They didn't pull any punches with the death scenes. True fact, Martin Luther King Jr's VA for the adult is his real life second son.

I dunno, this cartoon was made by DiC.
