This has never been the case of any media ever, or at least any good media. Even if you go as far back as early roman and greek tales, and the heroes journy shit, the main characters always struggle. That's what makes them interesting.

Characters who don't struggle and are either borderline or straight up Mary sues are what current marvel is filled with. Nobody is buying those comics compared to sales of years ago.

The biggest of the Hercules stories are about how he has to find a way to overcome seemingly impossible odds.

I think the real complaint is when a character has flaws but they never lead to consequences, the flaws don't mean anything for the story, they are just there to be an item in a checklist labeled "My character is not a Mary Sue doe" They're mostly job interview flaws.

Most of the characters Sup Forums claims to be Mary Sues are actually flawed characters or characters who are competent.

I remember when the news in my country talked about the police stopping a shipment of counterfeit Yu-gi-oh cards. Felt like something straight out of the cartoon.

Why must it always be extremes with Sup Forums? Why must it be Batgod-tier Mary Sue or an asshole-ish loser like Jessica Jones?
I just want characters who are competent and likable AND face struggles.

It's hard to write a balanced character so we have no choice but to pick either extreme. Also, likeability is subjective.

I mean that specific scene, and what comes of it.

You see, there is a big difference between intended character flaws that have a narrative purpose, and an author shittying out a character and dismissing all criticism with "They're flawed!!!"

In the German dub, she is voiced by the same guy who also voices Spongebob.

Lets take Korra for example, she is flawed as fuck, but the writting never adresses those flaws in a way that is narratively meaningful.

At least Ancient Gears is slightly less common than fucking Gladiator Beasts. That shit is supremely annoying
