Ant-Man always felt like he was inspired by Kamen Rider and Sentai heroes in general, whether it was intentional or not.

Was the Sentai genre even a thing during Ant-Man's conception? It feels like a stupid thing to ask but I'm curious.

They brought over Ryuki because of the abundance of characters for kids to buy toys of. It flopped because most people unfavorably compared it to Power Rangers and it ended up not airing its final episodes.

Drive was better than Flash anyway. However, I think the plots are strong enough that you could translate most of the scripts 1:1 apart from the cultural in-jokes, legacy tributes, and some of the social commentary. I mean, it's not like remaking another country's work to fit the mold of your own is beyond the ken of the Occident.

Insects always had heroic symbolism in Japanese culture so I can see why Spider-Man is so popular over there, Spidey honestly feels more like a Japanese creation when you look at it.

Wasn't Ryuki filmed in some weird 48fps framerate too? I remember it looking a lot like a soap opera. Hibiki did something similar but with added soft focus

And whenever American creators try to make Japanese heroes, we end up with shit like Shy Crazy Lolita Canary or Big Atomic Lantern Boy because American comic writers just don't get Japanese heroic naming conventions.

The first couple episodes of Kamen Rider are weird as fuck. Like you can tell there was some serious horror vibes that they backed off of later what with the people melting and shit.

The FX was kind of laughable, even for the times.
