Well, this is halfway over.
Something of a milestone there.
How's a full re-read of what's gone on?
As an act of kindness kickstarts discovery...
This is-
Ellis & Davis-Hunt's The Wild Storm #1-12

And here we go...
I feel this series breathes better in re-reads in any case.
It's also just an old standard place to pick.

I actually like the new direction, it feels fresh. Then again I never cared for edgy superheroes: the universe.
So, yeah, this is intriguing but I just don't like Elli's writing. Gonna read again though because I dropped it at 2, hopefully it improves but I doubt it, once Ellis gets into his quirks he does not hold back.
That's not something you see everyday.
I like it. It has plenty of Ellis-isms, but as a bedrock for the new universe, it's pretty solid.
Horrifying.
Those clothes are ruined!
"Puckish" is a pretty barbed statement.
Ah, he's a smart one.
Chapter 2
Gen13 better appear next issue or I'm going to be so fucking pissed
Hopefully now that those secrets are imploding they will.
literately wtf is the Wildstorm universe without Fairchild or even Majestic
Ellis is retarded
Majestic has been hinted at hard.
The Michael Cray series is set to end right before the final Wild Storm arc and since that's dealing with DC analogues...it can't be a coincidence.
Monitoring this thread
it just seems like DC really dropped the ball not calling it Deathblow or giving it to a good writer and Ellis doing this decompressed whatever you want to describe this but its not really entertaining
I'm glad it's not called Deathblow.
It's...not very entertaining.
The latest issue was the best one yet because it's just Deathblow getting dropped into a weird locale and brute forcing a fight. But yeah, the writing is weak.
Shit is gonna get crazy
I kind of like it honestly like it's not good but its just two-issue arcs of dumb violence. I would never buy it though
I would love if it was dumb violence.
But it's not really...it's just a lot of padding and then an anti-climatic fight. Both times.
The latest issue at least cuts down on the padding and includes a sword fight...so that's new.
5 fucking pages to land and sit on a fucking couch. 5.
Chapter 3
You doing the whole thing so far?
Yup.
>Majestic has been hinted at hard.
When? Haven't read a single issue but will stick around for my husbando
What a loon.
Just the term Majestic has been banded about quite frequently.
Last issue had one of the IO characters rooting around their paper files for their top secret projects and found one marked Majestic. It seems their current 'Thunderbook' project is an attempt to create him or something similar, but we havent seen enough of it that far to say for certain.
Doing God's work OP
Ayyyyyy!
WOOOO!
Hey Dave, just to give your readers a taste of the old Wildstorm stuff so they can compare it to current Wildstorm stuff, I'll post the reading order of the old universe.
I have to say that I prefer the current stuff to the old universe. However, there are some fantastic stories. Mainly the 3.0 stuff, the Ellis stuff, Moore's Wildcats and Brubaker's spy stuff.
And DEATHBLOW, hell yeah!
The Deluxe Edition a few years back was aces.
The old stuff had some great stuff. I think this is neat though.
He's got some moves.
Chapter 4
Deathblow is pretty good. The whole operator step up for current Wildstorm is really cool though. Always feel like those kinds of stories are underused in superhero universes. I am pretty sure that Spartan hasn't been introduced yet, but I can't wait. He is easily one of my favourite characters in Wildstorm.
Bendix is easily one of the best parts of it, as Warren Ellis essentially goes all out with making him an older Dirk Anger. While I am somewhat a fan of Deathblow, I am going to be honest and I don't like the current Michael Cray series at the moment though. Kind of feels like X Kills Y Universe
Kenesha and Zealot are both around for starters
still no Hawksmoor?
I like the set up for Deathblow here too. He's pretty neat in his scenes in these first issues.
But you're right about your thoughts on his spin off series. It's sucked all life out from it.
Thankfully he might reappear in the main series for the final arc.
YAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS QUEEN!!!
He's a comin'
Unscheduled Offworld Activation!
Spartan shows up around #7. Its just that he isnt in the costume and he's ambiguously brown this time around.
Yeah, but he's got some moves as well.
Everyone's got moves. Well, except for Cannon
