VR thread

anyone remember OSVR? apparently their HDK2 sells for $240 now. i don't think they have motion controllers yet though.

if it's openvr-friendly, is sounds like amazing option for various simfags. assetto corsa, lfs, elite dangerous, shit like that.

i'd be willing to try it, i'm just kinda afraid that it's still more of a hacker's toy than viable vr solution. i don't want to fine-tune my tracking per game because of some shit, i can do that in vridge for android

How is this at all different from an oculus dev kit?

>us only
cool

okay so apparently you can use vive wands with them? I saw a video of a guy doing such.

it's 2k instead of 1080p.

Try playing VR Hunter, where you shoot arrows and have to dodge enemy attacks all the time

More exercise than you've ever gotten in your life

SteamVR lets you use anything. You can use the Oculus Rift controllers with the Vive. You can use fucking wiimotes as a controller. No setup required.

>you can use fucking wiimotes as a controller
brb trying this for shits and giggles.

Imagine this tech in a scant 15 years. That's almost like going from the Virtual Boy to today, so one can only wonder how visually intense the scenes will be, added to that haptic feedback, and some people might just 'unplug' from reality entirely
its gonna be a very interesting time
