No. However NEET basement dwellers will say otherwise.
Atom is by far the most powerful general purpose text editor at the moment. I will admit it was trash when it came out first but since then it really has come a long way.
>browser based text editor
its an incredibly inefficient meme.
Yep, you're installing nodejs crap instead of an editor.
You already did. Fix it by killing yourself.
You are a mistake.
its 80,5MB because
>it's a piece of shit
>is probably statically linked with all deps included
I checked it out right know, so:
1. open project full of JSX, javascript.
2. no HTML autocomplete out of the box even though it says I have autocomplete-html installed and running
3. write h1 press tab, nothing happens, lel
it looks cool but it is shitty just any else.
Also no built in terminal out of the box.
Why the fuck is installer so big if it lacks basic features.
I am use VSCode right now.

I've played with it and it doesn't seem that good. What does it have over stuff like Sublime Text or Notepad++? I really want to like Atom it just seems slow compared to other programs that seem to offer the same features and have the same appeal.

already uninstalled it, too hard to use without reading 200 readme pages for that shitty plugins
Does it work for you?
* It has all the plugins of ST and more
* Biggest friendly community you will ever find
* Switched to for performance enhancements
* Free, customisation to the core and open source. Like Linux
* ST is dead, charges $70 and forum full of trolls these days. People moved over to Atom
>200 readme pages
Litreally go to settings - packages - install packages - (search and select package) - install
>200 readme pages
Dumb frog poster. No wonder.

I hate Linux, I am on Windows 10. Good you mentioned it, more reasons to avoid it.
>Switched to for performance enhancements
??
name 1 (one) text editor slower than atom
vim
>Atom is by far the most powerful general purpose text editor at the moment.
it's a shitty sublime text knockoff
Nice Web Browser.
You're just bad at vim.
>Atom
>not VIM
yes, you're making a mistake.
why should I use this instead of gedit?
absolutely
it fucks up menus here and there
(cont) prepare to have an 'open with atom...' everywhere, no matter how good you uninstall that crap
Yes. Use VS Code.
t. former Atom user
Name one text editor with an actual performance benchmark.
Aside from memes the difference between the different editors is negligible
>Atom is by far the most powerful general purpose text editor at the moment.
Isn't it just a slower Sublimetext clone? What can it do that other text editors can't?
> Emacs base install is bigger
> Requires a emacs guru to build emacs without stuff you never use like GNUS
Sigh... Someone needs to fork emacs or make vim have non retarded keybindings
just use vim you fuck ass
it takes like a day to get good at it and its worth it
Emacs.
:(
It's horrendously slow for something which is basically a glorified text editor. I used it for a while, and although it looks great, is designed well etc., the speed issue just frustrates me.
I use VS Code now (inb4 non-FOSS) which is pretty close to Atom, except it works. It loads in a time you expect a text editor to load and there's nothing Atom had that I think VS Code is missing.
Just use Microsoft Word you fucktards. Trying to make things completing for the sake of it.
Is VS Code good on linux?
t. faggot
It's better than Atom.
Just use fucking notepad or even notepad++ if you like looking at colors.
Mate fuck off, don't reply to everything in a thread you mong

OP is using Linux, you fucking mongoloid.

yes
>Using a text editor with google analytics built in
End yourself
Best alternative to Atom if that's what you're going for. Definitely worth a look
He's still going to be installing it with his package manger regardless of whether it's from the Debian repo or not.
Why not Visual Studio Code?
