Nah, probably not as Isaac has been very open that Modest Mouse is basically his job now. I think he just likes the imagery of "The Golden Casket"
Not like they can't make good music anymore either. See: youtube.com/watch?v=tUXhBw7nL2o, was made and released in 2015 for the Ugly Casanova reissue. I hope the next album is something like it, Jeremiah said it'll be "weirder"

I saw them open for The Flaming Lips and they were fucking awful

This. He mostly gets praise for vocals, songwriting and lyrics, but he's also an amazing guitarist

Edit The Sad Parts. That guitar after one minute and around the 3:30 mark is absolutely breathtaking

>likes the flaming lips
>calls modest mouse awful

Lounge (Closing Time)
Maybe not technically the best, but I'm a sucker for rhythmic guitars

If they put out an entire album at this quality then I'd maybe be sold, but Strangers isn't there, and either way Isaac's voice is missing a lot of the soul he once had.

very interesting choice. I can't pick a favorite but the guitar in Styrofoam Boats/Nice on Ice is the perfect way to end Lonesome Crowded West

That's one of the best from that album. I love me some Shit in Your Cut, Sugar Boats, and The Best Room too. Might be my favorite album of the post-Moon and Antarctica era desu.

I remember when I was a teenager I listened to Modest Mouse a lot and my stepdad would always make fun of Isaac's lisp, it really pissed me off for some reason
desu I like his lisp
