The day Tukey joins the EU is the day it collapses. That is of course assuming Europeans actually care about the values they claim to espouse. Like freedom of speech, freedom of the press, liberté, égalité, fraternité etc.

Atatürk was a good guy but he was the actual dictator to be honest.
He had unnecessary reforms and movements for example , he made it mandatory to wear hats for men ( hats like those fedoras and others which were popular in 1930s ) and he actually even hanged many that didn't wear the damn hats.

He didn't tell his own civilization to fuck off, he only told it to modernize. Turkey would have been a natural part of Europe and the EU if it didn't fuck around.
