can i have one for free?
I'm looking to get one of those to start learning producing, so I want something I can connect to my computer (i think it's called a midi), could you rec me a good model?
I second this
well getting a casiotone isn't going to help you learn how to produce, they're just fun little keyboards. none of the casiotones had midi i think the first casios to have that were some later CT models and the CZ, FZ, HT, etc. series.

this is a pretty sweet model, i have one but its not in the picture, it has MIDI IN/OUT/THRU, a basic sequencer and a basic drum machine. you can connect it to your computer and send/receive MIDI thru your DAW and use it kind of like outboard hardware
nice man i have a mt 100 casio and love it to bits
Why do you have that many casios?
kys
why would you write that? please explain what in my comment is enough to make you want me to kill myself
its hard for me to stop, i like the look of the old white ones in particular, but i think I'm almost done. i still need an MT-40 and a MT-400V, but they're harder to come by. i'd say 1/4 of those i bought broken/for parts and got them working again, 90% of the time its battery leakage buildup on the contacts or a bad capacitor.
dont worry about hes just a nigger
inside of a MT-60 im cleaning out
thanks, so this will be able to connect to my computer so i can play on it while altering the sounds on the computer? will look into that
beautiful
yes i do believe it can do that, although it sounds like what you're looking for is more like a modern generic MIDI controller that connects to your computer via USB.

something like an Akai MPK would probably be better for your purposes, the casio is more just a vintage keyboard to sample or sequence with MIDI
alright, the thing is I was recommended a Casio specifically so I just went with it. We were discussing Dungeon Synth and some guy said Casio were the best, but idk. The first one you linked looks nice but the shipping cost to Sweden is as much as the thing itself, so it's not very promising
Very cool
I'm guessing none of these would work with a computer?

no neither one has midi, but you can still sample the sounds off of them and manipulate them and stuff on the computer. what gear are you currently working with and what kind of music are you trying to make?
Ok, to put it plainly: I'm currently not working with any gear at all, but I want to start making music (Dungeon Synth is what got me into the idea) so I guess I'll start there, I love the sound of it. So right now I'm looking to get some info on a good starting midi keyboard and then I'll go from there, but it seems hard to find here
those three on the floor are cool, nice sounds and they can play barcoded music.
well i just listened to some dungeon synth and i do like the concept. it sounds like a mix of fantasy movie score and chiptune/ video game type music. my advice would be to get a good DAW, i dont know where your morals lie on the spectrum but all the big ones are easy enough to find online for free. get a DAW, a simple audio interface, and a casio sk-1 or something cheesy and vintage to start with
cool. does your rca vhs camera still works?
oh also, a good beginner interface would probably be a focusrite or something
us.focusrite.com
this one has 2 stereo In/Out's and a MIDI In/out
yeah i have three because the first two i bought the accompaniment chips on both were fucked and thats not something i have the prowess to repair.
that camera does still work the battery doesnt last long at all anymore but everything works on it
sampling the SK's
thanks, I have a pirated FL Studio on my computer, maybe that'll do. But you've lost me there, do I need to buy this "interface" as well as a keyboard even though the keyboard has a midi in/out on its back? I'm such a beginner here, maybe I'll have to find someone in a store and ask them to explain these things..
>having to label the notes
Pleb
k i'll try and start from the beginning
a keyboard with midi in/out is useless unless you have a midi interface on your computer. MIDI is just a simple digital signal that sends note information from a keyboard to a synthesizer which actually makes the sound. the casios i mentioned with midi are already capable of making their own sound, but they can also send simple midi data to a separate synth and/or a computer which can make the sound. so keyboard sends midi to computer which interprets midi note data and computer makes sound. what would be easier than midi keyboard-to-midi interface-to-computer would be a midi CONTROLLER straight to computer. AKAI MPK that i mentioned is a MIDI CONTROLLER, it simply hooks up to your computer thru USB and is available to use in your DAW. that controller can only control the software synths you have on your computer, it is incapable of making its own sound. i collect casios because they have a signature sound that i like and its not a sound you can get from software, so i sample my casios and manipulate the sample on my computer in a DAW. im sure someone suggested casios for dungeon synth because they have a retro 80s sound, but to produce you only need at the bare minimum a DAW and a way to get audio into your computer, thats it. controllers just make it easier to work inside a DAW
it came like that, and those stickers are really hard to get off. im sure you wouldn't know because you don't lurk on ebay looking for 30 year old toy keyboards
thank you for taking the time to do this. okay so, how does this sampling work then?
Or what would you recommend me to go with? I really would like a Casio just for that kind of sound, although it seems hard to get here in Sweden. If i get that Akai midi controller, there would be no need for a keyboard at all then? but I won't be able to get the same sounds?
IT'S A CASIO ON A PLASTIC BEACH
the guy i was talking to recommended me to get a casio keyboard and one of these:
roland.se
would that also be enough to make some music on the computer?
>how does this sampling work then?
sampling is just a fancy word for taking a small piece of audio and using it in a song or in some fashion whether it be a drum sample you're using in a beat or a sample from an instrument that you use to make a melody. you record a snippet from whatever you're sampling, put it in your DAW and do whatever with it.
if you want a casio just check ebay from time to time, soon enough you'll find one being sold close to you. casio SK series would be a good starting point, an SK-5 or SK-8 would be good i think, they have a good classic retro sound. but remember they are just keyboards with preset sounds they cant control anything else
if you get an AKAI its just a CONTROLLER it doesn't make sound, but you don't NEED a controller it just makes interfacing with your DAW easier,
that looks like the most bare bones way to get midi into your computer yeah, but again you need a keyboard with midi out
okay, i actually think im learning things now, thanks. but would i also be able to change the sounds afterwards on my computer, if i were to use a casio sk-5 for example, or would it be just the sounds that it can make? because if not, it seems like i could get more value and spare me some trouble if i just got a midi controller like akai, hooked it up to my computer and choosing different sounds via a DAW. sorry if it got messy, but i hope you get me. either way I'm sure i will be buying something. making music with only a DAW seems a bit hard for me, i think it would help with the controller a lot
yeah i'd say your best bet is get an akai mpk mini or something and find good retro samples online to use in your DAW. theres thousands of casio, yamaha, roland, etc. sample packs online for free
Put some carpet down you godless heathen.
too many. get some rolands.
lel fuck roland
alright i'll look into that, gotta go to sleep now it's freakin 4 am here. thank you very much!
